First general electric bought the rca name and ran down the quality. Then thomson (french) bought the name and really ran down the quality. Now TCL (chink) owns it, forget about quality. IT'S NOT THIER FAULT. America is a merchantile society, economy based on selling crap to each other. I challenge you to find anything made in the USA!

I bought a RCA TV i couldnt wait to get home when i got there TO MY SUPPRISE THE PIECE OF CRAP DIDNT EVEN WORKED!!! I will NEVER IN MY LIFE BUY A RCA TV. i even tryed to call them, they WOULD KEEP ME ON HOLD FOR 2 HOURS STRAIT! And then THEY NEVER HELPED ME OUT! if you dont want to have problems like me DONT BUY RCA TVS OR ANYTHING THAT HAS RCA ON IT.

My dad made the BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER to buy me A RCA stereo for my birthday. that present ONLY LASTED 3 MONTHS!!! first the CD got stuck in it then it didnt turn on. I AM PIST OFF!! this isnt the first time we had A problem with RCA. the CD got stuck in my dads truck CD player then the ratio stoped working it didnt even turn on any more. One thing I would recommend If your going to buy or give someone a RCA product dont do it!! EVERYBODY DONT BUY RCA IT FREAKIN SUCKS!!

I bought a RCA tv last april and a few months later it stopped working,so I got ahold of the company..I had to send them my reciet and also my old lamp that wasnt working..i waited a few days called them to see if they got it and they said yes and I would recieve my new lamp in the mail in 7 to 10 business days. Amd i have tryed calling so much and they say the same thing over and over again and then tell me they dont have it in stock. I am still to this day paying for cable on a tv I can not even watch..waiting and just thinking it may come. I tryed asking to talk to a manager and they say oh the manager will tell you the same thing. I will Never again buy anothoer one of there products..I am so mad!!!!!!

I bought a 32 inch Flat Screen tv frm walmart in Feb 2008 - just for the superbowl. Since I was in the middle of a relo - the tv sat in storage since April. AND, since I travel all the time, I never watch it. Early one Sat morning in June, the TV would not turn on. I sent the tv back to RCA - and to this day, I am still getting the scripted bs answers that my specific tv is not available, they will give me a refund at a buy back price (not what I paid for but what they feel the value of the damaged tv is - yes, the tv they built)or i can take a tv they keep trying to push down my throat that is not of the same quality as what I purchased. It is so hard for me to believe that we sell RCA in the USA with the poor workmanship, customer service, and lack of concern from this company. They have no phone numbers outside of the ones in the phillipines and noone else you can talk. Their cust svc department is like little drones with the same responses. No matter how long you sit on hold or how long you have to wait - stick it out and make them do the right thing. They are waiting for you to give up and just take more of their bs products, which will only have a 90 day warranty so if it breaks or stops working, you are SOL. I will never buy another RCA products. I wish this information was known to me prior to purchase (I guess I didn't do enough homework). This information needs to be known to all, especially with the economy and holidays coming up. People do not need to waste their money on this product.

I bought an RCA 50" DLP tv about a year ago (long enough for the 1 year warranty to run out). We had no problems for a little over a year, and then BOOM! The light on the tv flashes green 5 times. I called their customer service and was given the run around. I was told to make sure it's flashing 5 times because if so, then it's the bulb that needs to be replaced. I asked them how to get a replacement and was transferred to their parts department. I was told then they do not have that part in stock and to contact Best Buy or Sears. I live in a rural town that doesn't have Best Buy, but did get their number and began searching online (couldn't find the part online, but did contact their customer service). I was told they have the new part, but it would be $399.00!!!!! Can you believe that?? That's almost HALF of what I paid for the ENTIRE TV!!! I told them no thank you and hung up, and did end up finding the part online for about $100.00, which was mailed to and received in about 3 days. I replaced the bulb and the tv started working. I was told the bulb will last approximately 4000-6000 hours of tv time. Well, it's been about 3 weeks and I'm having the same issues again!! If the tv is turned on, and then off, it has to stay off for about an hour or so before coming back on. Then, it's anyone's guess if it will work. When this happened again, I contacted RCA and was told that it's the bulb. I told them under no circumstance could it be the bulb. I had just spent a great deal of money (yeah, that much for a bulb!!) and that I had just replaced it, so no way could it be the bulb. I also told them that we had vacuumed the dust, so there was no way that was the problem. I was then told they "have no idea" and I would need to contact a service technician, which can costs even more than the bulb! For the last week, we've been watching our usage of the tv and it seemed to work for the most part. Then today, yet again, it turns off and starts blinking. NOT AGAIN!! My wife wants to buy a new tv, but in this economy, that seems to be an extravagance that I shouldn't have to bear. If RCA actually provided a decent, qualify tv, I would have been fine with the purchase and never had these issues. I have now placed a call into the repair guy, but who knows how long or how much that will cost me. I'm so infuriated at them!!! Their product lasted just barely beyond the year and I'm now stuck with the problems and finances to fix it. Instead, we'll end up buying a new tv, but this time, there is no way it will be an RCA. I've told all of my friends and family NEVER to buy their product!

Bought 2 MP3 players from them and they both had defective batteries, which they said they would fix for a measly $64 each...But there were no guarantees that it would fix the problem. I wouldn't buy another product from them for any reason...Buy Japanese...they work

I bought a RCA 32V550T 32" tv in March 2005. A year and a half later, it just shut itself off one day. It just sat there an tried to turn itself off and on. When it did come on, the picture was distorted and the parental lockout would not disengage. The factory warranty ran out so I took it to a repair shop. After diagnosing it, they said a flyback transformer and another electronic piece had failed. The man who worked on it was a former RCA tech. He said that RCA knew of these problems. They had it 3 months and when I got it back it worked fine until last fall. When the tv was shut off it would sometimes try to turn off and on. It progressively got worse to the point where I had to unplug the tv when I shut it off. Now when I turn it on it just shuts down. I refuse to put anymore money into this piece of crap RCA calls a tv. I pulled the son of a bitch out of my entertainment center and bought a Sony. The garbage men will find this deplorable excuse for a tv next week. I can't even give this junk away. RCA- NO WAY!

un fn believable. i have never been treated so poorly in my life. heres my storey. i bought a 50 inch selenium dlp tv. got it home hooked it up within 1 hour a grey line appeared across the sceen. no problem we will bring another. almost a year goes by no worries.then boom the bulb burns out, 2 year warranty should be no problem.43 phone calls and 7 months with 6 faxes of receipts and purchase orders and finally a call this morning saying we cant read the date on the fax i sent.i have been through hell for the last 7 months and still no bulb. rca does not give 2 shits about their customers, or do they want to warranty anything that might cost them money. the call center will drive you nuts because they have been told to delay as long as possible so we get fed up and buy the part somewhere else. we have to do something, these guys will not stand behind their product. i fond out one other person who bought rca at the same store as i did is still waiting over 9 months,still getting the run around. never again ,

I recently purchased a 40in RCA HD TV it only workked for 2 months I took it in to a RCA repair shop and it has been there for a month and customer relations has told me that the parts have been ordered and should be there in the next 7 to 10 days it seems like the 10 days never gets here it has been 30 days now.

When I purchased a Dvd from RCA I always thought that RCA stood behind there prouducts until 6mos,into using my dvd I used it a total of maybe 10times if not less it stop working.Went on line trying to find #s to get ahold of #s impossible the #s I did find were no longer working, Sent emails they replyed that they would cotact me still waiting to hear from someone.I'm so thankful I ran across this website it dosen't matter if Thomson/RCA or who ever has or is taking part RCA. RCA is what I see when I made thee Purchase and with a name that has been around for ever should take pride and stand behind their Products no matter what. After all they forget we built their bank accounts and made their name strong and now its sad to see how many people have been treated so wrong the people that really belived in them and really trusted in their RCA name are left holding piles of junck merchandise wounderful for our landfills. You can bet we as the people should not let them continue to get rich on the junk products they sell we must fight back. Never again will I ever purchase a RCA PRODUCT AGAIN NEVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!It does not matter how big or small I'ts about standing behind your product. Thank you for lettig share how I feel.

I agree, boycott RCA because of it being owned by a French Company. I have read a lot of complaints about not being able to get parts. Well you can all thank Ronald Reagan for it. It was part of his trickle down economics. You know the trickle that never happened? He submitted and got passed, that manufactures only were required to supply replacement parts for up to 2 years. That is why you can get all these electronics cheap now. Basicly if they break, you are suppose to bye a new one, lol. So don't blame the manufacturer, blame the government. They destroyed the Service Repair industry so the fat cats can get fatter. The sad part about it is, most electronic manufacturers are owned by foreign company's. HMMMM Nothin like screwing your own people for the good of foreigners.

We bought a 65" RCA HD projector about 4 years ago. As of this morning, the high voltage splitter has gone out 5 times. Each time this is a $250 repair, not to mention the fact that i have to load/unload this giant POS and carry it in for service each time. Shame on me for thinking $3800 would buy a decent television. Dear RCA- if you are going to knowingly make a television with a junk part (high voltage splitter) then at least make it easy to replace by the customer. I would ask that you build a TV that will work more than 8 months but that seems far above and beyond your capabilites as a company. This is the last time i will be doing this repair. The next time it goes out i will carry this TV out to my parent's ranch and video myself shooting this POS $4k TV with a (expletive) shotgun and post the vid on youtube.

Back in 1999 I bought a new 19 inch RCA Color Trac,never have had any trouble with TV,perfect picture and color. Just bought a nice RCA 27 inch Gold Gemstar Model F27440 Mfg Nov 2003,wanted a larger screen,will keep you informed if any problems pop up. RCA has been good to me so far,we will see if it continues.

An update to my RCA saga... Got the TV back today, the tech was able to replace a defective soldered-on fuse on the main video board. Works fine, was under warranty so no cost to me except time & trouble to get it to the repair shop. You don't need to call RCA, just take the TV and proof of purchase if less than a year to your nearest facility. You should be able to locate on here...call first and verify they are still working on them, http://tv.rca.com/en-us/servicelocator.html I can highly recommend AVA Audio Video Analyst 137 Orange Ave Daytona Beach, FL 32114-4309 Phone: (386) 274-1080 Good service, quick, and called when they said they would. They'll get any electronic repair I have in the future. Thanks guys! If you don't have an authorized repair center near, they might be able to suggest a competent tech in your area. The fuse issue appears to be common knowledge, there was a print-out of repair procedure on the shop's copy of the work order. Unfortunately I didn't get a copy. Hope this helps Kevin

I purchased an RCA L46DW22 LCD TV from Walmart,$1296, 8/13/2007 and it has recently failed with the all-too-common unusable signal message as the only picture you can get! I just called "customer no Service" and spoke to an idiot that wanted to know what color cable I had coming in...MORON I HAVE NO SIGNALS TO ANY INPUT! When he finally referred me to a local service center, I told him I thought they were out of business..."Oh NO..they are there!" After calling both places, one IS out of business and the other is no longer ASC for RCA. I am currently planning my next move, so pissed off at this Piece of Shit company/product that has no concept of customer service. I will never spend another $$ with them again. ROT IN HELL RCA

I purchased a 50" DLP Projections television in December, 2007 from WalMart in Elk Grove, CA. Needles to say, in April, 2008 the lamp went out. And now after many phone calls to WalMart, RCA, Call 3, Call Kurtis, and the Better Business Bureau, I still have no lamp. I am considering filing a class action law suit here in California, anyone interested in joining in?

While America goes to HD, as stated below by many others, stay away from the RCA HD sets. Mine is the 32" HD LCD Pops, shuts off by itself, the sound goes out. Its only 18 months old. I've got a 13-year old set in storage that I paid $100 bucks for works better than this thing. After calling RCA, two weeks later I was told warranty was up, which I knew and stated when I called the first time. I was actually calling to find out who worked on them in our area. I called the local TV repair shop, they litterally chuckled and said good luck with RCA, "we don't even service them anymore because you can't get parts for them" $800 down the drain

I purchased a 32" model#32V434TYX5 from walmart 4/06. The TV was used approx once every few months for a few hours. The TV lost picture while changing channels and has not worked since. I also can not turn off TV power and have to unplug it. I contacted RCA and it was the same story, sorry about your luck but your TV is not under warranty. Needless to say I am not happy since I paid good money for this TV thinking it would last a long time. I can not even tell you how disgusted I am with the poor quality of a company that at one time was reputable. It seems the american public are once again victims of corporate bullshit and it seems that nothing can be done about it until someone dies in a fire from this faulty product. They need to at the very least be forced to recall them and stop putting innocent people at risk. I say this from researching all the complaints about the TV's having smoke come from them and having odors of electrcal wires burning. If that isn't a fire hazard I don't know what is. I have contacted consumer affairs and will be contacting other agencies concerning this matter. In the meantime I would suggest that people take heed and not purchase any RCA/GE/Thompson/etc products .........period!

I've went through three RCA mp3 players. All routinely crashed, randomly deleted files, and a lot of other problems. They eat up batteries, have low sound, have confusing controls, don't support large mp3 files, and are generally headaches. Go with Ipod or Creative as I've had a far superior experience with their mp3 products.

I've never emailed anyone about a consumer warning before but I felt that this is neccessary! In August of 2007 My husband purchased a 42" RCA LCD T.V. Model #L42WD22 We were so excited got the T.V. home ordered Shaw's cable on demand and Bought a new DVD player and everything! 6Months later it breaks! The analog Tuner goes and the HDMI tuner goes too! Since the T.V. was brand new and it was still under warenty we weren't to concerned, Phoned RCA and they told us to contact Audio Video Electronics In burnaby BC, to come and fix it! So on April 9/08 a sevice man came to our house told us what was wrong with it! Told us they would order the part and get if fixed! They ordered the part (i checked) but the part isn't available! So now we have our expensive T.V. with our new dvd player and our new cable package and no t.v. for almost 3 months!!! Rca Says that the part is back ordered and they don't know when it will come in! My question is : what good is a warrenty if you can't get your t.v. fixed! I just don't want anyone else to buy a RCA t.v. Because their warentee's are garbage thanks Ashli Malinek

I recently bought a RCA Opal mp3 4 gig player. The first MP3 player I've ever owned. Two months later the buttons stopped working. About 4 weeks later had to reformat to "recover" player. I should have read this page before buying. Now the MP3 player is just a useless eighty-eight dollar paperweight. Will never buy RCA again.

My boyfriend Tom, whom works very hard for his money as we all do, built a lovely sports room and decided to buy a 52" TV. Well, he bought an RCA and has had it now for about 2yrs. The tv hasn't EVER worked properly since he bought it. I am sorry, I refuse to see him screwed like this. Something need to be done. I can't see him spending hundreds of dollars on a tv that cost about $1,500. I want him reimburst, I don't want him to " get a replacement TV". Tom and I find ourselves messing with the damned TV more than enjoying our shows on TV. We are forced to finish watching tv upstairs in our room on our cheap NON RCA TV. Get the hint people at RCA, you have pissed alot of people off.

well i got sucked into the divx scam and i have about 20 movies that i cant play on my rc5231z!!! there is a code out there that youcan enter into your player via the remote and it will let you play all the divx movies you have but i have not found it yet!! yes i also think rca products uck!! if any one has the code maybe you would like to share it! thanks coconut

Had a 13" RCA colour tv that lasted about 10 years. Stations would just cut out at random. Read a post on the poor solder jionts common with RCA. Opened the set up (you HAVE to be qualified to do this folks, or you can die - Danger High Voltage means just that). Anyways the workmanship in there was apalling. It's the worst soldering job I have ever seen. Cold joints, joints on shields split due to thermal expansion/contraction. Bad design/poor materials/poor manufacturing process. I'm amazed it lasted as long as it did. Botom line, do yourself a favor and buy something else. I remember when the "His Master's Voice" logo meant something. Those days are gone.

I have a RCA 52inch projection model number: r52wh74yx68 . Worked fine for a year till I started getting my menu screen coming up out of the blue, with nothing provoked. The sets never been damaged or misused. Its like having pop ups come up on a computer while on the internet. It seems to do this an hour into play. Menu screen will come on and off back on and off and sometime just on till you have to clear it with remote. I put the parental block on my front panel (just to say maybe one of the buttons had gotten damaged) but instead of menu screen coming up, a different screen comes up saying your parental block is on. What a farse. One technitian said it has to be something in the computer getting too hot. And I tried all the bullshit with synchronizing and taking batteries out of remote and unplugging the tv. Scouted most of the comments on this blog and couldnt find anyone but one comment that was sort of similar. Instead of menu screen her scan would atoumatically come up. One ppossibilty that could help....to take the back off and put some external fans to cool the boards when too hot. I will research my tv purchases much more diligently cosidering the amount that they are. When I bought this one for a grand, I was sure being RCA that it was a wise investment that would last at least 5 years or so. What a dissapointment since the picture is still fine. Uuugh! Damn you RCA!!!

I bought a 52in RCA modle # R52WH73 in Dec 2006. After about 3 months the TV just stopped working. You could see the flash as if you turned it on, but there was no picture or sound. I called customer service and the TV was still under warranty. The sent someone out to get the TV. Long story short, after about 5 months of the service ppl having our TV RCA/Thompson just replaced it with a new one. When they replace your TV with a new one, you dont get a new warranty, just what ever time is left on the purchased TV.(which I think is CRAP)Anyway, now March 08 the TV looks like you are watching it in 3D. All the colors are there but they are not lined up correctly. And of course RCA/Thompson is no help. After reading on the internet it appears to be some auto conergence system problem that these TVs are known to have.I read I can replace a fuse part #259213 (for anyone else with this problem). I found the part for $3.95. You just need to know a little about soldering. RCA is junk and we will never buy any RCA product again.

I bought a 61 inch RCa dlp ! year ago. I have had nothing but problems with the customer service. At first they said I have a 2 year warranty and 2 months later I have no warranty so I try to pick up my tv from the service center and I needed to pay for my tv back. What the hell is going on with this company. I can't believe they treat their customers so bad . Soon enough nobody will buy their crap, they have rude customer sservice reps like jasmine and they are too scared to let you talk to a manager. Never again RCA they lose cause I will be buying enough electronics and never ever will any of them be RCA. RCA go to hellas I was left disabled by a car accident and stuck at home and for 2 months have had no tv.Thanks to HP I have a computer but still waiting for my tv parts which I have to order and pay for.Thanks from a very sick man Rca Great service if you live in HELLLLL>

I have been riving myself crazy rying to figure out what is uo with my 32" rca xbox ready entertainment seriers tv purchased 3 years go from circuit city for a hefty price. from the get go at first, the sound would go. beautiful pictur but, dead. this continued on and off for some. I was told that it was due to various problems at various times such as inferior cable box, satellite reciever etc. and then al of the sudden like magic it would start working again, I figured everyone was right. then I started getting sound but, the picture would turn off and it could be days or weeks before I could get it to stay on once agin. Contnually have this problem. wa looking on this site for a cure perhaps a booster or tube or something that I could replace.Soon came to realize that it is a common problem. where do i go for help. it is no longer under warranty no will rca do anything to help. The tv weighs about 200 lbs. it is driving me crazy. works 1 month and is out four months. right now i have a 12" tv permenantly sitting next to the monster(which I am currently watching with a magnifying glass)while I wait for the monster to wake up. i wrote a comment the other day , i made a mistake my tv is a 52 in rca and ive had it 2 and a half years,since i wrote in a couple of days ago ,my tv is completely fritzed... the power was going off and on by itself then it was making cracking sounds then the top and bottom bar was closing in causing the tv to only have a small pic in the centre of the tv then the pic was all warped even the words were bending then there were constant lines running throughthe screen then i smelled burned wire now its toast!!! 1700$$ 2 and a half years!!!! the problems started exactly one year after i bought it and of course after warranty those tvs were only made to last a year or less....thanx to someone who wrote on here they said to go to the justice attorny general and i did so they gave me a case ### and are cuurently handling it for me!!! i want my $$$ back i will not accept another rca!!! this tv was one big rip off and i will also keep fighting this!!my brother also bought a rca 2 years ago and it is now starting up problems a year ago ...this is an epademic rca needs to own up and give the consumers back thier $$$$... this should be on w5 or 5th estate or something they need to be exposed the place i bought the tv from told me today that they dont get rca anymore because of these exact problems and they said the parts are not even available and the ones that are take 9 months to get!!! so hurray for them ...theres one company that wont sell rca products...this is audio warehouse by the way!!! they had to deal with a lot of angry people cause of this bad brand!!! but at this rate rca will be out of buisness!! im spreading the word rca is junk!!!

We bought a 50"RCA/HD on Feb.27,2007. On Dec.10,2007 it stopped working. We were told it was the lamp. Our warranty covered this part, but we had to send in our old lamp before they would send us the new one. I was told it would take 2 to 3 weeks after they received the bad lamp for RCA to send me the new one.well we didn't get our TV fixed, the new lamp was put in, the tv worked for about an hour then went out again!!! I was then told to contact the authorized dealer in our city. then came out on Jan. 10,2008. he tried 2 parts and that did not fix our tv. He told us he would have to take our tv into the shop. on Jan.10th 2008 they took our tv to be repaired. I was told to give them a week, that it was the light engine or digital board. I called the dealer one week later and was told the box just came in that day,she said "RCA sends out their own box for repair parts to be sent back to them" well i called the dealer back on 01/25/2008 and was told they were either send it out that friday, if not the following Monday. to make this letter shorter, we finally got our tv back on, 02/13/2008. THEN ON 02/20/2008 THE TV WENT OUT AGAIN!!!! ONE WEEK AFTER WE GOT IT BACK!!!! I CALLED THE RCA AND I TOLD THEM I WANTED MY MONEY BACK. I SPOKE TO A LADY NAMED JASMINE. SHE TOLD ME, IN THE NEXT 2-3 DAYS SOME ONE WOULD CALL ME TO PICK UP THE TV, THEN IT WOULD TAKE 6-8 WEEKS TO RECEIVE OUR CHECK AFTER THE TV WAS PICKED UP. I ASKED HER TO SEND ME A LETTER STATING ALL OF THIS INFORMATION, I WAS TOLD THAT A MIKE ANTHONY WOULD SEND OUT THIS LETTER. I WAITED UNTIL THE 2/26/2008 AND CALLED RCA BACK, BECAUSE NO ONE CALLED ME TO PICK UP THE TV AND I DID NOT GET A LETTER FROM MIKE ANTHONY!!!! I WAS TOLD THE SAME GARBAGE AGAIN. IT IS NOW 03/04/2008 THE TV IS STILL HERE AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY LETTER IN THE MAIL. I HAVE MY LOCAL NEWS E-MAILING ME NOW AND I HOPE I WILL BE ABLE TO EXPOSE THIS COMPANY AND ALSO GET ALL MY MONEY BACK. i did not realize what an epademic this was til i started to research what is wrong with my tv...ive had my tv,rca 42in.for almost 3 years..it started acting up 2 years after i bought it...the power just shuts off and then on again by itself, sometimesi cant get it to turn back on for a day or 2..warranty is only a year and extended warranty is a bloody rip off!!!so 1700$ down the drain!!!!im very angry and if there is a lawsuit i would also like to be included,any tv should be an automatic 3 year warranty esspecially when you pay through your nose for something!! even 5 years wouldnt be too much maybe then they would more inclined to make sure these products are properly manufactured...rca is garbage 1700 for a tv to last 3 years is truly a crime and we could all make a difference!!! a washer and dryer costs the same and i got a good 10 years so far from that!!! the owner of this company should be sitting in jail right now for this....we as people do not have to take this...we have been robbed and by the sounds of it they wont own up to it!...never again will i get rca!!! so because of rca im real scared to buy again...we as consumers are not protected from these thieves!!!

Please be an educated consumer RCA to Customer Go away, we got your money Attention any and all consumers, Please purchase a TV cautiously. Ask and investigate the warranty. RCA will absolutely not cover warranty on an Electronics Shop open box or floor model TV, yet the receipt says it does. Both the repair shop and I have been caught in this situation. All info states that our TV (50 HDLP) came with a two year parts and labor warranty. Six months new, needed repair. When the repair shop filed a claim; RCA won t pay them stating that registration number is invalid, TV not warranted. Now the repair shop wants me to pay bill and RCA says that I don t exist in the files and yet they gave me a registration number less than a year ago on my TV in case of a warranty claim. Go figure eh! Electronic Shop insists that all their open box, return or display models will carry a full manufacturers warranty from the date of purchase. Good Luck! RCA tells me that they do not carry any warranty. I have also found that in this electronic age, some items cost more to repair than they cost and I truly believe they RCA has just such a case with these TV s and that it was easier for them to electronically eliminate any future claims on these TV s by deleting us, the consumer. In numerous calls to their customer service department, I have found that they put you on hold for so long that when you finally can t hold it any longer, you hang up. Each time you call back, it s the same. If by chance you get through to a live person, they tell you that you don t exist and your item is not warranted, goodbye. As a consumer, I m not sure which one pisses me off the most, the people selling a poor product or the cheap manufacturer that pawns a lousy product on to an unsuspecting dealer. Which is worse? I am truly ticked as to how RCA has treated me and would like to let others know that I think RCA would rather take your money and hide than look after you as a customer. Please send this to as many people as you can so that all consumers can be educated and learn that customer relations are the true backbone to any company s survival. Without satisfied customers you have no sales, without sales, you have no company. RCA / Thomson are NOT a company to buy from.

I bought a $1300.00 RCA 42" LCD HDTV in May 2007. It broke in October of the same year. RCA will not refund my money nor give me a TV. You can't speak to a manager. There is no response from anybody there. They have been telling me since October that my check will come in 2-4 weeks. It is February 26, 2008 and still no check and no tv. I have spent hundreds of dollars on phone calls to RCA or Thompson, or whatever they call themselves these days. I have spent hundreds of dollars on cable because I really believe that I'll be getting my new TV soon and if I cancel my cable, there is a hefty penalty involved. RCA sucks. RCA sucks. RCA sucks. Boycott RCA, not cause they're French, but because they're thieves.

We bought a 27" RCA SDTV in June 2007. Brought it home the next day it shut off and would not work so we took it back to the store and it was replaced. Today2/21/08 it again shut off by itself and will not turn on again. From what I have read it is a solder problem that is rampant in any RCA tv. I tried to contact RCA and received no answer. I would be interested in getting my money back so I can use it to buy a good tv.

I posted my story on november 11 2007 I think,Well we found out the problem is a part called a dm3 module,which to also find out is not available.RCA called me today 2/18/2008 they are going to exchange my TV for another one,so we'll see what happens,weather they give me a new one or some refurbished piece of crap.I'll update you all when it happens.It's been since october 07 since it went out and it took them this long to figure out what their going to do.

I recently "acquired" 1987 RCA Colortrak 2000, but I cannot change the input source for receiving video from different sources (ie: DVD, VHS, satellite receiver); I cannot find a way to select any of the many input ports on the back of the TV (composite/RCA jacks). I can enter any channel number between 1 and 99, but I cannot locate AV1 or AV2 or AV3. So I'm currently stuck receiving my satellite signal using the channel 3/coax input port, which produces a rather noisy video signal on this particular TV. If I could select one of the composite inputs to view, the signal quality would probably be far improved. Can anyone out there tell me if they've had a similar problem with there RCA set, or have a suggestion as to what the trick is in getting the other input ports selected so I can connect them to my satellite receiver? The remote control is missing so I'm using the front panel buttons to perform whatever options I've tried so far. Thanks for any help from anyone out there. Kenny

Okay, so I have an RCA Truflat 20 inch tv, honestly not that bad of a tv, that is until you decide to try and play your classic nintendo systems. My NES, SNES, and N64 work fine on any other tv, but on my RCA they blink "unusable signal" so much that they are basically unplayable. My Sony LCD tv plays all of my older nintendo systems just fine, no problem. Come on RCA, What has Mario ever done to you?

I purchased an RCA 27in True Flat in Feb 06 from Kmart. It was a deal, it was refurbished is why it was sooo cheap. My Bad...I had RCA before and found them to be long lasting. However, I did purchase the Kmart Smart plan. RCA would not do anything except tell me that is was out of warranty. I sent my information to the Smart plan and I had a check for the full purchase price in less than a week. Normally do not buy the protection plan but I was paid for the TV and as it was too large to ship they told me to keep it. My lesson is never buy RCA and buy the replacement plan! I have a 37 inch RCA TV that does not work! When you do get the damn tv to turn on, it starts to change channels on it's own. Then the menu page pops up but i can't take it off because it is going from one option to the next on it's own. It's like the tv is trying to catch up or something! I tried to unplug the tv for a week but it comes on when it wants to. Last but not least, when the tv starts to work and I am good into a tv show, the damn thing starts to flick through channels again! Is there anyone out there with the same problem that is now solved or can someone give me some advice?

Bought our RCA TV model #L32WD22 on July 17, 2007 and now the sound will go out after sounding like a missle is taking off. I have to shut it off at the surge protector because the remote will not shut it off. Have placed a call to RCA, but after reading about RCA I don't expect much help. I guess 800.00 is just down the drain. I called Walmart to see if they would replace it because I'm afraid of it catching on fire, but they said it was past 30 days and I had to deal with RCA. What has happened to our protection on these defective products we buy. Ours is a 32 inch LCD TV.

re letter of oct.2/ 07.... took the rca crap back and now own a sanyo tv , not the best but at least it turns on. i have had it for a while now and find it to be not to bad nice picture but i find the remote kind of cheep . but hay i can live with it . the next time i get somthing new i will sure as hell look for sites like this on . god bless candaian and usa troops this xmas . have a good one

Follow up to prior comments/problem with our 20" RCA TruFlat model # 20F511T bought in 2005 that started turning itself on and off and auto searching channels. First of all I am not a TV repair person and have a great respect for electricity and voltages so this is just a suggestion of something I tried that has had my TV working like normal again for the last two weeks. The TV was unplugged for a couple weeks and of course I kept it that way when I removed the six screws on the backside holding the back cover to the front. I carefully pulled the back cover away from the front of the set, only about 5 or 6 inches because there are wires still attached from the front of set to a circuit board that is attached to the inside bottom back section of the set. Next I located a small set of wires running from the control buttons on the outside top front of my set (right side, above the picture tube- TV, Menu, -Volume+, -Channel+). I followed the small set of wires grouped together down from the this contol button panel to where they attached to the large circuit board at the bottom of the set with a small white connector plug and I disconnected this connector from the board effectively disconnecting the manual TV control buttons. I looped those wires out of the way inside the set so they were just hanging inside beside the picture tube and weren t touching the circuit board or anything else, pushed the back cover of the set into place against the front section of the set and put the six screws holding the covers together back in, than I plugged the set back in. Now it only works with the remote control, the buttons on the top of the set that controlled channels, volume, etc don't work, as expected, neither does the turn on/power button in the front but the TV is functioning perfectly normal now. No on/off by itself or auto searching on its own. There must be something in that circuit with those buttons causing these sets to go haywire but I wasn t going to spend more than the set was worth to have a TV repair shop figure it out. Please be very careful if you decide to try this as you'll notice lots of warnings on the back of the set about high voltage parts inside, and if I recall someone once said TV sets can hold a lot of voltage inside them, even if they ve been unplugged for a long time! Noticed some others were having the same problem I was and thought I'd pass this information on incase it will help someone else get some more life out of their TV. Still not buying anymore RCA stuff, you shouldn t have to do this with a product only two years old. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Christmas 2005 I received an RCA 5 disc CD player. My first CD player ever(except for a walkman) My first brand new stereo since my 16th birthday(19 years earlier)I also got the world's greatest CD ever made because a friend downloaded my favorite 14 songs & made it just for me. It was February that the broke. It was purchased from Walmart, hooked up & used starting the beginning of Jan. & died Feb. However being a gift & not having the receipt handy. I was told to look on the back of the stereo for a date (I think called shelf date)approximating the time span they feel it will be purchased. The date was March 2006. It was I believe around the 8th when I contacted Thomason about my problem. How could there be any problem? I was 8 days into the month of the manufacturers date. Just a few highlights of my experience. Countless telephone calls, holding at times for over an hour(sometimes being cut off), told the CSR's name on the other end was "Tom Smith" ( the man could barely speak English) his supervisors name I believe called himself "Charles Brown"(and his English was even worse.) I browght my stereo to Lakes Electronics located in west Sunrise, Broward county, FL (approx. end of March) They gave me a receipt & I was told(and in writing) 4-6 weeks. I constantly kept in touch with Lakes Electronics & Thomason. Finally around Sept.2006 I contacted Consumer Affairs who sent me papers (which I filled out & immediately sent back) & assigned me a case worker that would be in touch(gave me his name & #) Like I said that was Sept 2006. Today is December 17, 2007. It was the right before Thanksgiving 2006 Lakes Electronics called me to tell me RCA could not get the part is replacing it with a new unit. 8 months of no stereo because it was being fixed & now they will replace it. I go to Lakes Electronics to pick it up (what a shady operation there). I never blamed them. I blamed RCA/Thomason. I was so excited(a new stereo, finally) They bring me out this stereo with the dates all scratched off on the back, the unit was used(no box, nothing) He wouldn't allow me to test it out in the store & as for a warranty(1 year) it is from date of purchase not replacement date (March) Words were exchanged & I was threatened to be escorted off property if I didn't leave their Premises. (I was rude, but I was getting screwed) I left & probably tried Consumer Affairs 8 or 9 more times & Help Me Howard(a South FL local newscaster) Nobody gave a dam. It wasn't the money($100)Actually free(it was a gift) It was the principle & I DESERVED that stereo. Tonight a very wise person said in business: If a person/company treats your good you tell 2 people; if a person/company does you wrong you tell 20!! (Myself, I would have rathered got the new stereo, because losing 20 customers to them is probably not a big deal) dec. 2007

I have a HD52W56 projection tv used only 3yrs then smoke in the rear and picture out. After research, found the a common problem is the HV splitter coil and takes out one or three resistors in the process. Since this is a common problem or defect, why can there be a recall and free exchange or repair. Well instead of cursing and griping I will fix-it myself, and found that the HV splitter is on clearance for $10 and easy to replace once the rear is removed the hardest to do is the resistor which fried and needs to the solder. I know this is only temporary due to its failure rate and poor quality. Godspeed to all

i got a 32 inch rca tv in june of 07.the tv lasted for 4 months and the thing shut off and never came back on.it took me 2 weeks to get some one to look at it after spending 1hr on hold with the rca help line.the repair tech said the tube was gone and would have to order a new part.3 weeks later i was told the part was not in stock.i have called rca and got the runaround.after 2 1/2 months they are sending me a new tv.buy the time it gets here it will be 3 months.no one at rca cares what you think.i dont recommend anyone buy a rca.let everyone know dont buy there junk.i am starting to send this out on face book as well and hope evryone does the same.

We bought a 20" RCA TruFlat model # 20F511T built in Sept 2005, assembled in China. Since it wasn't made in Mexico like a 19" RCA TV we had in the early 90's that broke after a couple years due to the solder problems they had I though this newer model would be okay. Was I ever wrong. The 20" TruFlat TV started acting up a couple months ago after less than 2 years of occasional usage. It started turning itself on, than off, than on again. Sometimes when it turned on it would start auto-searching channels. Tried removing batteries from the remote, covering that little eye for the remote on the front of the set, and unplugged it for several days. After a week or so it wouldn't stay on hardly at all, just clicked on and off real fast. Now it s permanently unplugged and ready for the dump because the cost to fix it is probably more than the set cost. After seeing this site I can say with great confidence: We Will Never Buy RCA Products Ever Again!!!

Wow... When i downloaded that funny Prank call about the Asian guy calling the store to ask why his VCR wouldnt work (the clock kept blinking), then ends up saying "RCA stands for Really Crappy Appliance"..I thought it was a joke! But i now know, its all too true. I bought a 57" RCA tv from a private party, 3 weeks ago. Its a DLP, and im not sure of the Model number (its from 2003/04). I paid $475(alot less then others, But an entire paycheck for me). First TV i have ever owned, and i was very proud of it...Until six DAYS later, The TV went out on me. For that one week i owned it, I generally used it for 4 hours a night to play Xbox 360 (I never even hooked the cable up yet!!!). Then on one night (monday last week), the TV Went POP, turned blue, then shut off and refused to turn back on. I had a TV repairman come look at it, he said that it needs refurbished. And the only way to do this, is to pay RCA $700 to refurbish it...Or he could try to find a kit and do it for less, IF i had the serial number (whole other story...when we looked for the number, Someone scratched the serial number off and put tape over the spot!!!). The previous owner and I are going to try to figure something out, and I blamed HIM until i found this site...Now i know that RCA just makes VERY shitty TVs. I think i am pretty much screwed... And will have to take the $475 loss, as i don't see a way i can get it fixed without paying more and its not worth it. I'm just going to go to one of those rent to own places and Buy a sony or panasonic. I will NEVER buy a RCA again, and i will make sure every one of my friends feels the same way.

My father bought an RCA TruFlat in for me 2005 and at first it worked. 2 years later the thing turned off by itself. at first i thought that it was the power fuse thingy that is mentioned on the manual. after a few days, it went back to normal. fast forward 3 months later and the damn tv set is going back to it's things: turning on and off by itself, changing channels, even the f*cking remotes didn't work (both the one that came with the set, and a universal remote). the only thing i feel is being pissed off. and i don't mean to throw politics into this but since thomson is a french company who owns RCA, it's distribution of craptastic electronics are probably their way of giving american consumers the finger and screwing them out of their money. i just hope i get enough money to buy a CRT tv which isn't from RCA (reason i prefer CRT over LCD is because both the zapper from my original nintendo nor my guncon2 for the playstation 2 won't work with LCD Screens)

I bought a 50 in RCA big mistake paid $1000. They do have problems with the convergence going out and Thomson/RCA knows it!! Set went out exactly 1 yr and 1 month since date of purchase. No longer under RCA warranty luckily my husband was smart enough to pay for the extended warranty.

My P.o.S RCA 32F530T just died this morning. (3 years old) The front light just blinks three times, no picture, no sound. After reading this, I'm not even going to bother with RCA or local repair shops. Off to the garbage dump. Thanks!

I was given a 36" RCA tv for xmas last year 2006 from my boss brand new. About 4 months later the set started shuting off and on by itself.Then went into a standby mode and still to this day in standby and wont come out. RCA is crap, so I say never buy another RCA product.

I bought a M50WH72S,that's the 50" DLP HDTV 1300.00 at walmart in janurary 07,here it is november 07,the bulb blows I call RCA they just jack me around on the phone like I'm some big dumby.They ask me for all my info,on the tv and me.I tell her I filled out the registration card and mailed the night after I bought it but they did'nt have it on file.So she wants me to fax her the receipt for it,which has been lost.So I say screw it and get on e-bay and buy the damn bulb myself 128.99 w/shipping,had it like 3 days put it in like the instructions say,and it works great,for 3 days,next thing you know it shuts off and won't come back on.I'm calling someone tomorrow and if nothing happens,I'm putting it in the back of my van ,and going on a road trip to throw it through the front window of their office building.I've got a 3 year and a 2 year old,and if spongebob or jimmy nuetron isn't on it's going to be hell for someone to pay.ME

I purchased an RCA Small Wonder Video Camcorder. Model EZ 201BK. The unit arrived and indeed is easy to use, compact to carry around. The only problem is that it takes "sub-standard video". The video clips are fuzzy, blurry lacking in detail and all have a reddish cast to them. I have sent repeated emails with reports of my problems. I have read other reports online of similar problems that other owners are having. I just keep getting computer generated emails that direct me to call a 1 800 Service center. Someone in India answers the phone and tells me that the only thing they can do is to ship out a refurbished camera to me when I return this one. This is nonsense. There is something wrong with this entire product line of cameras. I am sure of this since last year I owned a Pure Digital Flip Video camera. Their technology is apparently licensed to RCA to produce this camera. The Flip's video clips are far superior...they are sharp, clear, detailed and have no such reddish color tint. RCA's refusal to discuss this matter with me indicates a certain dishonesty. Their failure to confront a larger problem. They hope we will just go away and forget the whole thing. We will not. We paid for this camera and are entitled to a unit that produces reasonably good video. Not perfect...just clear and not reddish color tinted. Their "customer disservice" is a joke. They have robot agents with prepared scripts who cannot do anything to resolve a difficult situation with a customer. I never should have bought an RCA product and never will again. This camera is simply sub-standard, and does not perform. One only needs to compare the video clips that it shoots with those of the Flip Video from Pure Digital. There is a vast difference. Save your money....do not purchase an RCA Small Wonder. You will regret it if you do.

We bought an RCA 32" TV Model #32V434T at Walmart about 18 mths ago. It looked nice. Until you turned it on and it took about 10 seconds to show a picture. Ok we lived with that. But now, I have no tv it turned it self off and won't turn back on. After reading several consumer reports and websites - I'm not even going to try to call RCA - So from now on I will just no longer buy RCA product. Thank you very much

My 2 1/2 year old RCA 20" crashed today. Started doing auto searches, blinked for a few times and that's it. poof. I never thought RCA is crap...as a young kid in high school, we used RCA chips for our hobby projects and none of those chips failed on me...I always had high hopes in RCA..not anymore. Looks like they kicked out all good people and hired nutjobs to make stuff for them. or they are made in china/mexico. just bad stuff. After reading stories here, I am happy that the TV lasted for 2.5 years. Guess I am just lucky. No more RCA

Well I'm back on this site again with another RCA problem.It seems My HDMI input has totally quit, It has no picture or sound. This time I'm not going to pay to fix it, I'm just going to wait awhile and buy another set when I can afford to and you can cool believe that it won't be an RCA!

I purchased 2 LYRA RD2765A MP3 players from last year, one of me and one for my wife. I have spent the rest of the year not listening to my music, but rather trying to get one of the "customer service" people to explain why the batteries on both units only last 45 minutes playing music. They claim that is not a warrantable issue and to fix the problem I would have to send the units back (in seperate boxes) and they would gladly replace them...for 106.00 ea plus shipping. The rub is that they don't even show that this unit ever existed. All reference ot them have been removed from their website. So I asked them what they would replace them with...They couldn't answer that except to say it would be comparable. They don't even make a 5 gig player anymore. 5 hours on the phone and I'm stuck with $350 worth of absolute junk. If anyone is doing anything more than this, ie class actions...I have maintained all conversations and times left on hold. Absolutely Jacked In Chicago!

I purchased a RCA HD50LPW175Y in 2006. This is the second time I am having trouble with this damn t.v. The first time was in April 2007. I called RCA they sent out one of their contractors and 6 months after that I have no picture again and this time they are giving me the run around. I bought a RCA from a someone for 25 bucks, so I figured I cant go wrong with that right!! Well one day I allowed my daughter to play a game which required I hook it up to the back of the tv. she played her game and every since then it wont work. I press the on button and it clicks like it wants to come on but wont. i can hear sound (slightly) but no picture. Anyone know why?? I'd like some feed back if anyone can tell me what exactly needs to be fixed. Now my 25 dollar come-up gone!

My experience viz. RCA 61LPW163 mirrors all of the stories here. I have learned a valuable lesson, fortunately for free. My extended warranty company refunded my entire purchase price. My penetrating questions are: Why does Texas Instruments tolerate this, with the bad publicity for DLP involved? If you bought it from Sears, read the sign over every door - satisfaction guaranteed or your money back...

I purchased my first RCA 50" hdtv around May the 27th 2006. I had it right at 3 months. Was watching Nascar, and the set shut off. I calle RCA. They had a repair shop come out to look at it. They loaded it up and took it to the shop. That wason Sept 3rd. Its been in the ever since. This is December the 7th. Around October the 12th, I purchased the same TV again. Model # M50WH72S. After 2 weeks it started loosing the picture on the sides, about 1/4 of an inch ever 3 or 4 days. I loaded it up and took it back to walmart. And they traded it for yet another of the same style and model. (3rd time should be a charm) Any way, I would not tell anyone to purchase an RCA set. The repair shop has stayed in touch, told me that RCA had some major issues with this model. To say the least, im very unhappy with the set. Now the last TV has went on the blink, NO PICTURE. I called RCA, cant get a human, They gave me 2 shops that are their prime repair shops, they both told me they WONT pick up the set.. I would have to take it to them, NOT WHAT MY WARRANTY STATES>.. If I can get out from under this one ill never buy RCA again...

Don't laugh. About 6 months ago we bought a used, older 45 inch rear projection RCA. It lasted about 2 months before something in the power supply went (seems like a common problem). Not the end of the world cuz we got it for cheap. We decided to replace it with a HD65W140 Scenium 65". We had a good laugh saying 'what if this TV blows up like the other one'. Well, it took about 2 months and it came true. Turned on, big blue spark, a little trail of blue smoke and that was the end of that. Luckly, I'm not going to wait for a third strike against RCA. Avoid them like the plague. I cant think of any other electronics that I've owned that's blown up on me. Let alone 2 in 6 months!

Bought a RCA HDLP50W151. Piece of junk. Its been in for service 3 times now and over 3 months in the service center. The color wheel noise is unacceptable. Lamp blew way too fast and color wheel noise is starting again on the replacement wheel. Brutal TV. I'll never buy RCA again. I love DLP's but I'll buy one from a reputable company.

i to have been robbed..... RCA 32v432t 32 in. peice of shit #1 it,s assembled in mexico hummmmm ya ok i can live with that . # 2 the company is oned by the french ... i did not know that after closer look at the piece of crap the front of it was pushed out like it had been drop from a 5 store building ... ok so i phone the rcs costomer support line now that was a fun time ,when i did get to chat with the person on line ,,, who i could not understand at all hardly as she had a eastern voice ,she told me that i had two things i could do # 1 drive 2 hr,s to take it back or i could call a repair dealer and pay milage to have the junk fixed . hummmmm brand new tv wahooo what a joke , i to have had rca,s tv,s before and wow they where good , but this piece of crap goes back .RCA never again wallmart hummmm thinking about that . now i have to tape the box back up ,as i riped it to hell opening it as it to large to lift out of it . well cost of buying a hunk of crap .... well 200.00$ for 2 trips in to take it back 2 meals as my wife has a few words to say to the ladies that sold it to us . thats 2 unhappy meals at the golden arches . 23.00$ ,s hummmm should of read your blogs before on rca . so im off to the city to xchange it or get my money back ... ok get my money back SANYO here i come

After reading all these posts about RCA I am so surprised that there isn't any class action suit against RCA/Thompson. If there is, sign me up. My story is just like all the other. My 61 in HD model number HD61LPW175, purchased April of 2006, stopped working March 2007, after all the trouble shooting, it was determined it was the bulb, I of course had to make that decision, because RCA would never send out a servicer. SO I sent in the bulb, they lost it, sent me back the wrong bulb about a month later. They actually servier that time and low and behold it wasn't the bulb after all!! The servicer took the televison with him and that was May 2, 2007. I haven't seen it since. Part after part was been ordered and nothing was fixing the problem. So finally Thompson decided to replace the TV (August now), which why in the hell I would want another piece of junk from RCA!I just wanted my money back, but they won't do that. They would go broke! SO I asked for a extended warranty with the replacement TV. It doesn't even come with the regular manufacturers warranty. It comes with a three month warranty because they are replacing it with a REFURBISHED TV!! I spent $3000 on TV that was used just under one year and they are going to give my one of their savaged TV's apparently they have quite a bit of these. So the TV is sitting in the servicers backroom (thats where Thompson sent it) along with the original piece of crap. I refuse to take delivery of it and have filed a complaint with the attorney generals office, the better business bureau and our local investigative reporter. I would like any info about any class action suit also. This company has to be stopped and these retailers who sell there product should pull it off the shelves, or pay up for RCA! UNBELIEVABLE!!

Well now! You can add me to the boycott of RCA products!! RCA/Thomson is a Canada-based company owned by the French who outsource assembly of their North American TVs to Mexico. My D32750T HDTV's flyback transformer(for picture tube) went out after 1 year. Had it fixed for $500, just to have it go out again < 1 year later. I pulled the board with transformer out myself and took it in for service to save mucho $$. Was told the part no longer exists!! Remember the icon of the dog listening to the Victrola of years past? Now it's just a dog! Ironically, JVC (Japanese Victor, a company that the original RCA started in Japan then sold) makes vastly superior products.

Update on my ordeal...The nightmare is finally over, after almost 6 months of RCA customer dis-service, jerking my chain, i went back into sears and had a chat with the manager about the lack of support and my disgust with RCA and them at being made a victim, he agreed to take the piece of shit back and gave me an equivalent Panasonic, i am so happy and relieved at getting rid of my RCA albatross, thankyou GOD. Don`t let yourself be a victim stay as far away from RCA as you can.

Three years ago we made the mistake of purchasing an RCA five-disc CD player. Strangely enough, the damn thing still works as well as it ever did, which is not saying much. You can open it up and put in a CD, but what happens afterward is anybody's guess. Maybe it will play the disc without skipping around too much. Then again, maybe it will refuse to even read the disc. I have seen it do this with brand new CD's, and no matter how many times you clean the laser lens, things never seem to get any better. The sound quality is fair when you can get it to play, but the biggest hassle is just getting it to read the disc. Nor is there any point in calling their toll-free number. All they do is parrot the same drivel you can read in the instruction manual, and in an even more unitelligible dialect of Pidgin English. As far as I am concerned, RCA stands for Rotten Crummy Appliances, and I will never buy any of their junk again.

My mother asked me to buy her a nice big TV. She's clueless, and so am I. So I researched as much as was able and bought her an RCA 32 inch HDTV tube TV. It didn't work. Not from the beginning. Cable man agreed. A bad TV. Maybe it had been dropped in shipping... It took MONTHS of phone calls to get a replacement, which finally arrived. We used it for 6 weeks. Now guess what. Doesn't work. Cable guy agrees again. "It's the TV," he said. Now what do I do? It's still under warranty, but what will that do? Get me another TV that doesn't work? Unfortunately, we are doing all this by freight - we live on an island far from any stores. I paid about $450 for this thing. Should I drop kick it?

Well, here's my update....I have fought with RCA/Thomson since my last post. They finally came back saying they were going to make me very happy....what were they going to do???? Well they told me if I give them $960 they will send me another tv just like the one I have! They are crazy...with all the problems with this model (HD61LPW42)..why would anyone want to give them $960 more dollars, taking my tv investment for 3 years to over $6000! I finally give up. I went and bought a 50 inch plasma and will take this RCA piece of crap apart and sell off major parts that I know don't have a problem. I hate RCA. If anyone is looking for parts, let me know, make me an offer and I'll pull it from my set.

My RCA 32in television suddenly stopped working. I called Wal-Mart and they gave me the number to RCA.They quickly found a service center and had the TV picked up for repairs, but what I did not know about RCA that they are willing to tell you anything to keep you happy.I have called several times, which I have kept a record of. Trust me these call are not pleasant at all. They tell you the same thing everytime. Do they think we are stupid? Each time I get the same rude and abnoxious lady with a heavy accent. I get two different stories from the repair office and the RCA Thomson company. I am sick and tired of their BS. The television was taken on April 10th and today is September 20th and I have nothing. RCA products and their company are not worth your money. It is not only me, but I just discovered today it is over hundreds of people in the same situation that I am. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Something must be done. We work hard to make our money so some irresponsible, lying , moneystealing company can take it! Something has to be done.

I was so excited that I could finally take all of my favorite music with me wherever I went....UNTIL IT STOPPED WORKING TWO DAYS AGO!!! Now it won't boot up past the opening screen. I hate it. Ive invested SO much $ into buying MP3's to put on this damn thing. And now, I can't even figure out how in the hell to use the warranty! Where do I call? Who do I contact? There is no mention of a warranty on the website at all. Someone help me! Even if I get it replaced and not payed for mabey I can have another month or two of music. WHAT A PILE OF SHIT!

My husband and I purchased an RCA 52" tv about a year and a half ago (model * HD52W59). Worked fine until about 2 weeks ago when the set shut itself off and decided it didn't want to turn on again. The bullshit we've been going through since this happened is just ridiculous. The part can't be located, our local TV repairman refuses to deal with RCA anymore, and Thomson sucks. They've been giving us the runaround for the last couple of weeks and they're idiots. I thought RCA was a reputable company but boy I was wrong. And this issue doesn't look like it's going to be resolved anytime soon. My next step is calling the BBB because their products suck and their customer service is DISGUSTING!!! Stay away from RCA products! I thought maybe it was just this particular model but after reading all these entries I realized it's just this piece of shit company!

I had bought a 50inch Flat RCA from Walmart and let me tell you that was a huge mistake. First my TV went out on my family on the 4th of July. I just bought the TV on 2-2-07. So of course i have a warranty with this and I called Walmart on 7-5-07 (after the 4th) and they told me that the warranty isn't in affect right now because the TV have a year on warranty and that I needed to call RCA. And let me tell you i called and they gave me 3 numbers to chose from to have someone come out to look at it and that took a 2 weeks and then they told me that some board went out and that they would have to call RCA to get another one. That took another 2 weeks and then no one called to let me know any updates about when the part was suppose to be here. So I called the shop and they told me that it was in back order after another 2 weeks. so at this time its a total of month and i am like what...... so i called rca again and i am writing down there names, time everything because at this point i am getting sick of listening to the same story so i told them i just want a replacement since waiting on a part that was suppose to have been back 4 weeks ago isn't here. so consumer relation told me that i would have to wait for a rep to call me back and that will take up 2 weeks. and i am like not again. so another 2 weeks go by no phone call and so i called again and they called the number that i had for me out and it was all wrong and then she told me that they don't leave messages on machines and i am like well look i work and so i am not at home 24 hrs and so she called out another number which was my work and i am like why didn't no one called my work number if they couldn't get in touch with me at home. so at this point i am pissed off. they said it will take another 2 weeks for a rep to get in touch with me again. So i waited waited waited waited and then i just i called them back and told them look i want a replacement or i will contact the dept that handles customer products relation and i will take them to small claim court. So guess what They said the they will be putting in a order for a replacement and it came in Aug. now the remote doesn't work on the tv so i have to get another remote because i refuse to buy another remote i paid to much money for this tv so i refuse to go to a store and buy one. I also am also an RCA victim, i purchased a plasma p42whd33 model, worked properly for exactly 3 months, called Sears, they told me they will do nothing, i have to deal with RCA, being the naive and honest person i am i contacted RCA and was given some numbers for repair, 1 out of 3 numbers worked and was for a neighbouring city, ok the guy says it will be a while till he can make the trip, 3 weeks go by and he shows up to look at it, no surprise he can`t fix it, he needs to contact RCA techs, this takes 2 weeks and they tell him it`s one piece and can`t be fixed, so it will have to be replaced, 2 more weeks go by and nothing, i call RCA again and they tell me they need confirmation that the set can`t be fixed, WTF i just did that, so i call the repair guy again and he contacts RCA again to tell them, all this is eating up more and more weeks, i`ll leave out some in between stuff and just bring it up to date. After screwing me around for 4 months RCA calls me up to tell me they can`t replace the t.v with the same model i purchased so they offer something close, i`m thinking great i`ll take it at this point, anything beats more run around, they tell me 7 to 10 days, after 2 weeks i call asking what the hell is going on now, i`m told the warehouse closed for a month to do upgrades, so they can`t ship anything till it`s fixed. Now it`ll be another 2 weeks apparently before they will even ship it....Ya, right i`m not the brightest guy but Fuck you and your fucking horse RCA if i could i`d choke the fucking life out of you, this is the worst piece of shit company you can buy off of, save yourself the fucking headache and bullshit mind games, i wouldn`t piss on RCA if they were on fire, 5 months of fucking mind games and counting, i really don`t see any resolution in the future, i feel like i`ve been fucked in the ass, do yourself a favor don`t buy RCA shit or you will be sorry.

I too bought a 32 RCA TV Model number 32V434T a little over a year ago. I have never been as disappointed in any TV I have purchased in the past as I am with this one! After just a year mine started shutting itself down. We unplugged it for a few hours, then plugged it back in and turned it on, then it would come back on .that was for the first few times it shut itself off. Now, we cannot get it to come back on at all. After contacting a TV repair person and being told it was going to cost anywhere from $150. to $250. to repair it that was out of the question why pay that to fix a TV that isn t worth much more new? After going to several tech websites and seeing quite a few other people were having the same problem with their same model of TV we contacted RCA directly. Ha! That was a waste of time and energy! We were basically told that it is our problem and they do not intend to do anything about it (their faulty product). In other words ..go F*** yourself, we don t care. So back to the store we will be going to get another new TV. An RCA? Absolutely not! The way RCA deals with an obviously faulty product I will not be buying anything made by them in the future. I will never suggest to anyone to buy an RCA product. Buyers beware of RCA products!

I bought a 52 inch RCA hdtv from kings 2004,5 months later it quit,I took it back, it took 6 months for them to fix the set,i had to raise hell to get a loaner till it was fixed,here i am 1 year later same thing,the set has quit again,no picture,just clicks and tries to reset its self,RCA is selling crap,this site is a perfect example of that,I waited a long time before i invested my hard earned cash on a tv,Im just sorry i trusted the rca name.I keep hearing high voltage issues in these grievances,.My TV is now in the shop,im told it will take $450.00 to $500.00 to fix,After coming to this site i have decided to go get it and count my lost,I will never buy another RCA product as long as i live,I belive we all can do more damage by word of mouth since RCA will not honor their reputation.tv_9er@yahoo.com

We have a 50in RCA Scenium TV that we have had for 4 years. (Which after reading a lot of comments we are quite lucky it lasted so long.) Our problem has always been after a thunderstorm, or whenever we unplug it to move it or go on vacation etc., it always comes up "unusable signal" and we have to unplug it for 24 hours so it resets itself. I have never heard of an electronic having to be unplugges for 24 hours, but that's what I was told when I called customer service. Is this normal or is something wrong with it? I am so fed up with not being able to use it at random times. We will NEVER buy RCA again!

am currently battling with RCA/Thomson. I bought a 61 inch DLP projection tv (HD61LPW42 on 3/30/2004 from Circuit City. One year later the bulb went out....a cool $414 to replace. Then a year and two months later the bulb went out again...bought another. Two months ago, the picture started flashing and the pic went out...still had sound. After the set warms up (about an hour) the pic goes out every 15 minutes. RCA support said, replace the bulb. I did again and of course complained...but the set still does it. I now have over $5000 in this set. There are no authorized service people here in or near Biloxi, MS. I emailed a huge complaint and they emailed me back telling me to call customer service. I spent two hours on the phone with a lady who finally said if I send the receipt they may be able to help me. I did and now have not heard back from them.

ok, here I am again, I'm about to laugh at my own stupid self for beleiving tte would (don't even call them RCA, we grew up with RCA they were good. TTE is not !!) ok so if you read my other post about 6 down from this one. you'll see the orignal issues. let me get you up to date. I've tracked down TTE board members ,,,let me tell ya , they know something, either they are dead, or they have quit. spoke to one guy who just quit, but tried to help me anyone. (dont think he did) the other Mike O'hara died in April. Everybody is jumping off of this ship and if you can get anything for your RCA do it now !!. I have spoken to several people (and family memebers of TTE employees, they give the top dogs numbers out) everyone at first was telling my no luck. we won't do anything. finally I guess they got sick of me and said to bring my TV to a guy here in town, once they gave me his name I had to laugh. he was the orignal one that told me this was a junk TV and he could fix it but it would only break again in a few weeks or months. So, I finally got another dude who said he would pick it up from Wal Mart. We took it there. he picked it up. hes had it a couple weeks. he called the night before last and said it was fixed. (Great ! I wanted a new tv but at this point I just want a TV) so I asked him when I couldd pick it up and he said after I pay, or else he would just put the old broken parts back in. I explained that TTe was paying for this, he made some calls, called me back and said No.. they are not. So I had no choice. I pulled out the credit card and over the phone gave him my information. Yes I Paid. But the next day I called TTe again, they said they were very sorry, send them the receipt and they will pay me back. (sure) today my tv was dropped off at walmart. we went to pick it up, (its in the friggin 90's here!!) stayed in the parking lot forever while we waited. Finally got appoval to go get the thing. Went in and guess what !! its not our TV ! its some smaller piece of crap rca/TTe tv. What the Hell !!! now I've paid the dude. called him twice, he wont call me back. called the peeps at TTe they wont call me back. I have no receipt from the repair guy, that payment was made over the phone, hes probably cleaning out my bank account as I type. What the hell !!! and to the person who said they wanted a Sony.. just a fyi, it too it owned by TTe now, so is comcast tv and direct tv. If you are going to buy a product call a repair man and ask what is a good product today. they will tell you. they know whats just and what has been bought out by this huge Company that even has its own employees either dropping dead or quitting. stay tuned, I'll keep you up. but do pay attention, I'm not done here. (oh yeah they own GE too)

I have a 52 inch RCA, I purchased at the local Walmart. I too thought RCA was a quality product and felt lucky to have purchased a 52 inch RCA for a mere 1100.00. I made my purchase on July 8 2006. On July 10 2007 I turned the tv on, it turned itself off and I tried repeatedly it continued to shut itself off. I called RCA, who of course said my 1 year warranty ran out. I called Walmart who said my 30 day warranty ran out. After reading all of these notes from disgusted RCA customers I may just cut my losses! I should just take it to Walmart and drop it off! It will save me from paying the local transfer station 25.00 recycling fee.

I never really bought RCA products before, but I got an RCA 2 gig mp3 player about 8 months ago. It was a pretty simple device, I couldn't imagine it ever screwing up on me. But 3 months later it would randomly lock up and play just a load beep until I yanked the battery out of it. And a few days later I wouldn't even be able to turn the thing on without it locking up. I ended up spiking it off the pavement and buying something from microsoft.

My wife bought a RCA 36" TV from Sears back in 2003. It was sold to her as a year end clearance model but it turns out it was a "Factory Refurbished". About 3 years later we starting having problems with the TV blanking out after it had been on for a while. Finally it went out completely never to power on again. After doing some research online I ve com to find out that the fly-back transformer has gone out. I ve talked to a couple service centers and the repairs are going to be in the neighborhood of $200-$300. The part itself is relatively inexpensive but when it goes out it normally causes serious problems with numerous electronic components on the card tray which is why it is so expensive to repair. . Unfortunately I ve argued with both Sears and RCA (Thompson) about this issue to no avail. We did the whole BBB and still no resolution. It s pissed my wife off so much that we will no longer shop at Sears which is particularly sad since I love Craftsmen tools and own a garage full of them. If anyone has had better luck with getting this issue resolved or know of a how-to fix the set yourself please share your story on how you did it. Thanks

ok, I'm an idiot, I didnt look at this page first. But really I grew up with RCA who knew they had sold out to the French and who knows what country you're talking to when you call customer service. All I know is they can't understand me and I can't understand them. My story.. RCA Model R52WH73 a 52 inch HD TV, (first has anyone ever confirmed this is really a HD TV? I pay extra for the HD box through my cable co and I see no difference in it or the oldie but goodie in the bedroom) So, after having this for 13 months it blows up. I call RCA. no help, rude, pretty much laughing at me, people. I continue on to get my TV repaired. RCA gave me a local repair man, when I started to tell him about my TV he gave me the model number without me giving it to him (this is not a good sign) He told me RCA is junk, but he can try to fix it. I go to his shop, waiting to be moved to his work area are 3 TV's just like mine !! (how many are in the back?) He said really I have been lucky to go 13 months with an RCA and not have any

in hindsight - i should have done my research! in april, 2004 i bought a 32" truflat (model# 32F530T) from circuit city. the tv has spent no less than two years in the off position and probably hasn't been watched more than 30 times. on 4/10/07, i watched the morning news, turned it off, and went to work. on same day, came home from work, attempted to turn on tv, and it did not respond. called thomson's customer service, and spoke with a lady who struggled with understanding english (most of the phone call was spent with me having to repeat the same crap over again). she then proceeded to waste more of my time by reading me the same trouble shooting suggestions (verbatum) that i had already read and tried from the user's guide. the call ended by her telling me to call a rca service center. so far i've left voice mails with 2 out of the 3 local rca servicers. out of the 2, neither has returned my calls. evidently servicing rca products keeps one busy. from reading all of these grievances, it would appear i'm in the wrong line of work - the money (and job security) is in fixing the junk rca/thomson put out. what adds insult to injury is that i just threw out my 3yr extended warranty receipt two weeks ago, because it ended the first week in april. !!#@#$^&&% out of all the entries i've read about the tv's successful repairing, i don't believe i've read any that mentioned a happy ending. my question is now, do i even bother to spend god knows what to have this doo-doo "fixed", or do i just cut my losses.?? heck, it only cost me $500. !@$@#%#$!^%# anyone else have 32F530T story and/or solution - please send me an email to the address below. thx.

I bought an RCA HD50LPW165 DLP set in 2005 and great service from it until the color wheel assembly failed 6 months after the warranty expired. It cost over $400 to get it it repaired and the color isn't same now, has way to much green. I still have a 1988 20 inch RCA and a 1996 27 inch ProScan that have never given any trouble and still play perfectly to this day.I thought I would have a similar experience with this set.I guess I was wrong. RCA was true pioneer in it's day and their slogan was once "The Most Trusted Name In Electronics". It's a shame what Thomson has done to this American icon in just a few short years.

Ditto for me! We have had RCA TV's for over 40 years with all of them being totally reliable. Three years ago I decided to replace my RCA 27" (which was 15 years old and chugging along just fine)with a 32" Truflat. We had sound problems from day one and the TV often went off on it's own. The payoff was 10 days ago when it just died. The repairman still cannot find a transformer for this TV after a 10 day search and we will no doubt get something generic as a "fix". Is this a good idea anyone?

well my little boy saved soda cans so he could by an mp3 player. he ended up with an rca. he was so happy iwas so proud of him he worked hard to do that.he just informed me that mp3 player eats battries like it is going out of style. he is limited to how long he plays it because of the price of battries. i think it is terrible how thompson ignors calls sure it only cost $50 but it is like $500 to a little guy.he is so careful of it. we thougth it would be a good experience for him to do that and buy it himself. it sure was he had it for four weeks before it started eating battries. right now we cant afford to replace it. we are on a fixed income thompson could care less. thank you for your time dale is broken hearted in ca

I bought a 65" RCA Scenium Rear Projection T.V. in November 2004. It was in the repair shop 3 months after we purchased it (3400.00). It sizzeled when I turned it on and smells of burnt rubber. The resistor in back of the circuit board burnt. Today, (03-08-07) I have sent this T.V. back to the shop for the 3rd time with same problem.Model # HD65W140. Last time the repair bill was $340.00. This time will be again $340.00. I have contacted Consumer Relations for RCA and they are in the process of making a decision on this T.V. If you have same type of T.V. please contact me. All of these are doing the same thing with the same defective resistors. They may be the cause of a fire in your home.

Yes, I was a sucker and brought a CD and Audio player. the C.D would not turn I have been six months trying to contact them. Their Web site has a plywood suppler and my e Mails will not go through. I brought another audio and the sound was so low you couldn't hear it. And the button that you push to play will not come go down good nor will it come back up when the audio tape has complete it play. So I have invested in two things that were no good from the factory. The CD player would not even turn. Yes, I knew when RCA was one of the best along witm Zenith, but no longer. Yet Walmarts continues to sell their products just like the junk from China. I suggest you contact your legal govenment agency that can do something about this. It is comsumer Affairs so we can get this junk off and out of the American stores. Bought a 32" SDTV Model 32V434T at Walmart in June 2006. It went out 3/11/2007. Shut itself off and won't come back on. No sound, no picture. NOW I find this site. What I don't understand is why companies are still buying them when all these problems exist. The TV is less than a year old - I should not have to be purchasing a new one! Forget the "authorized repair centers". It would cost me almost as much as the TV costs! RCA has totally sold out its quality and consumer satisfaction. It is now a boat anchor I guess. I'm so upset because we like everyone else are working pay check to pay check and we finally save up enough money to get this TV and this happens. I don't have much at all and was so happy to finally get a 32" tv and not have to squint and now less than a year - it is gone. I'm mad, upset and sad that this could happen and there is no recourse. So I purchased an RCA 27" Entertainment Series with guide+ from Canadian Tire. Plugged it in, immediately the screen starts having diagonal gray lines move across the it. It also goes in and out of "color". The guide+ and other features never worked either. Went to take it back and Canadian Tire says they are hands off. RCA is no help, even if you can FIND their number. Figuring that it was just a crappy model I again made the mistake of buying an RCA...... This is a 25"? RCA TruFlat. The screen on this one decides to have odd blotches of color around the sides of the screen beside the speakers. Only way to make the colors go away is to sit at a blue "input" screen. Isn't there a way we can all get together and crush these (explicit omitted)?

Bought a HD52W59 thats the 52" widescreen high D tv and after exactly one month after the year warranty it won't turn on. I was told by the csr's to leave unplugged for an hour and it should reset itself. DID NOT WORK! Had to have it repaired turns out the Transformer went bad and spent $400 to fix.

hi, so i'm reading and i think, i gotta tell everyone this, i bought a used HDLP50W151 for 750 canadian, and it appeared as though it had been plagued with all the problems i read about. i used to do warranty work for amp companies and also funded my way through college buying & repairing hundreds of tv's, so i whipped it apart and set out to fix it the dave way. first off, i replaced a lot of cheap components with better ones. the difference is price per component was only pennies, but DOES make all the difference. the resistor that seems to cause all the problems is/was only reacting to a problem elsewhere from another component. upgrading some resistors and shoddy ic's and transitors seems to have fixed the problems entirely. cost $47. the problem is mass production by the french - they are cheap, f'in cheap. they don't want to pay bench fee's for some tech who probably doesn't know how to identify the problem, let alone hook up an oscilloscope and trace the problem, it's easier to swap a board out that only cost them pennies to produce. i then put some efficient heat sinks on any component that might even stray outside it's normal operating temperture. i revented the enclosure and put in some 120mm computer fans, ultraquiet, and the ambient temperture is only a few degrees above room temperature, that cost me about $60. i am going to try and make a new armature for the light so it can accept, or rather be modded to hold a lower priced light, like $ 250 lower in price, then i'll sell them and installation instructions on ebay and i'll be driving a f'in lamborghini by summer. Ha! while i'm at it, i'll buy a bunch of lemons from different manufacturers and do the same thing. maybe i shouldn't be telling anyone this? someone with more time and money is likely to steal my idea, nah!

We bought a used 42 inch RCA TV from a guy who fixes and sales TVs back in September of last year (06) we gave him $300.00 for it and he gave us a 90 day warranty, well last week me and my son was watching it and it clicked and went off and I asked my 8 year old did you hit the button on the remote and he said no momma the remote is not even by me so i get up and find it and turn the TV back on and less than 5 minutes later it cuts off again and i cut it back on and it plays ok for a while and so i tell my son lets go clean your room up and i cut it off and we go about our business and later that day i set down to watch it and turn it on with the remote and it clicks and goes off so i cut it back on and then it starts clicking going off and on and i try to turn it off with the remote and it will not stop so i have to unplug it to get it to cut off but it keeps clicking and then i smell some thing like burnt wires, any way when my husband gets home he plugs it in to see about it and all it will do is make a clicking sound in the back of it.. My husband got his brother to come while he was off work Friday and take it back to the repair shop where we bought it and the guy we bought it from did nto talk to us at all and acted real funny, he let his wife do all the talking asking what did it do and what's your phone number so we gave it to her and then she says ok it will probably be next week some time before we get it fixed.. I am like some of the rest of you guys i will never buy another RCA again and like some one else said RCA's dog needs shot LOL. I dread when he calls and tells us what he wants for fixing it i may tell him to shove it... i am thinking also now, i wonder how many times he has fixed and sold that TV to other people and had it returned to him for a different one..

Like everyone else, I was also unfortunate enough to purchase an RCA Television. Mine was a 52" Rear Projection, and I am paying for buying the largest cheapest TV on the market. To do this as short as possible, my TV has been "repaired" 3 times, and has had the same problem of a "sparking" that shorts out my powersupply. Each time it is returned to me and immediately starts sparking again. I Bought my TV almost a year ago, and it has sat waiting to be picked up, or at the repair company for over half of this time. The last time my TV worked was in mid November, it was returned in Late December (OVER A MONTH LATER) and still did not work, they did an in home service call two weeks later, and it has sat there since. I called Thompson immediately, and they have done nothing. It is now 3 weeks later and I am still waiting for a call back. They do not let you speak with managers, and have no complaint department. If the best case scenario happens and they replace my TV, I still have to waith 4 to 6 weeks for another one! How is this company still in business? At this rate (best case scenario) I will go about 5 months without my TV functioning at all, and 9 months without it operating properly.

Bought a 32in RCA 32V550T 3 years ago. The set just died one morning and wouldn't turn on! Power button or remote wont work. I was going to try to get it fixed but after reading all of these horror stories I will just take the money and purchase a NON RCA television. I am using a 10 year old NON RCA TV in the meantime that works great!
