I purchased a 1999 RCA Home theatre Big screen in June of that year. Model P52923 and it stills works very well today as it when I bought it. How I ran across these complaints that I was looking to purchase another new remote control that came with the TV. I am pleased with my set. Another year is among us fastly approaching 2007 and my RCA is still working. It is a well built product. regardless what company took over. Thank you

I purchased my first RCA 50" hdtv around May the 27th 2006. I had it right at 3 months. Was watching Nascar, and the set shut off. I calle RCA. They had a repair shop come out to look at it. They loaded it up and took it to the shop. That wason Sept 3rd. Its been in the ever since. This is December the 7th. Around October the 12th, I purchased the same TV again. Model # M50WH72S. After 2 weeks it started loosing the picture on the sides, about 1/4 of an inch ever 3 or 4 days. I loaded it up and took it back to walmart. And they traded it for yet another of the same style and model. (3rd time should be a charm) Any way, I would not tell anyone to purchase an RCA set. The repair shop has stayed in touch, told me that RCA had some major issues with this model. To say the least, im very unhappy with the set.

Got an RCA 32V432T with a manufacture date of Jan.06 ... now it cuts off by itself (no sound and the stand-by light goes on) but the picture stays on .... can't turn it up or down or change channels like that so have to push the button to cut it back on and real quick change the channel before it cuts off again ... we have a 12 inch on the floor next to it for sound. We've got a 30 year old black and white in our bedroom that works like new.$260 for the 32v from walmart and we got robbed ... thinking of going to get another new one exactly like the broken one and once home switch and take the broken one back and ask for my money back ... the new one would probably turn out to be a bigger piece of shit.

We bought an RCA 32v55ot in '04. The piece of shit started having problems in less than a year. We experianced loss of picture with random sound. We called Circuit City and talked to a snot nosed teenager who gave us know satisfaction what so ever Circuit City is a piece of shit as well and can kiss my ass. We finally were directed to a local RCA repair shop because even the manufacture had a one year warrany and we figured that paying for labor would be cheaper than buying another TV. I mean come on we have four other TV's in the house that are over 5 to 10 years old and working fine. So the local Autherized RCA repair shop picked up our 32inch TV and repaired it for 200 dollars. OH FUCK!! Was that a mistake. They did give us a 30 day warranty. 29 days later the damn thing did the same thing. We called the local repair shop and they told us how the parts were out of warranty and that they could probly fix it for about another 200 dollars. I said why dont i bring it down and stick it up your ass. How about a 32inch rectal thermometer. Well we found that taking the back off the television off it would occasionally work but now after a year and a half of doing this the tv just sits in the living room as a broke piece of shit. RCA sucks Big Cuircuit City sucks Bigger. Really Cheap Ass tv's if anyone gets a lawsuit against RCA include us in!

I must say that RCA is not the company they once were. In Jan 2003, I bought a 46" RCA television from Wal Mart. The stupid TV keeps cutting off and on by its self as if it is possessed by the RCA devil! Then the picture got all distorted before it completely went out. Oh, it came back on and played fine for awhile, but now, it's back to cutting off every few seconds. That TV cost me a pretty penny and I better get the answer I'm seeking from RCA customer service! If there hasn't been a law suit yet, there needs to be! Research before you buy! I wish I had!

I posted my complaint acouple months back about an RCA 32" TV they I had purchased at Walmart. I just wanted everyone to know that RCA did rectify the situation. After complaints I sent to the Better Business Bureau, the Attoney General & I had my local TV station call them, they did get in touch me me.They could not find a HD TV to replace the broken one, so they refunded my money & had the broken one picked up at no charge to me. I got my check, the TV is gone and all is well. You can fill out a form to the attorney general & bettr business bureau right on line. Don't give up the fight people! Here's one story with a happy ending!! Good Luck to all of you!

DO NOT BUY RCA (Thompson)! I, stupidly, bought an RCA boom box last spring. It did not work at all, so again, stupidly, I followed the directions in the booklet and sent it back to one of their service centers. After HOURS on the phone with RCA/Thompson they told me on 6/24/06 that they will refund my money. On 8/29/06 they told me it will be another 6 -8 weeks until I receive my refund because they are processing refunds from January. Two things I can do to help others is say - DO NOT BUY RCA products and the (top) phone number you have to call is 1-866-465-7157. There will be NO message for you to prompt numbers, just hit 1 - 6 - 3 and you will actually talk to a person. My item was small but it is the principle of the thing - keep after them until you get satisfaction, although I don't know if I ever will!

One night while watching the nascar race Our 2 1/2 year old 32 true flat RCA shut off just as the race was over that was the July long week end. The service shop is having a problem getting the transformer for this TV like the rest of you. They told me it could be Dec before we see the part then it likely will be discontinued. What a Crock. I to said they should be boycotted or better yet sued. After telling a friend at work he told me all about the shity service after Thomson took over, my daughter told me the same thing, she worked at a tv repair shop over 10 yrs ago. I wish I had heard these story before we bought this boat anchor. We also purchased a stand strong enough to hold. We now sit with a $1300.00 (canadian)TV stand. The repair shop told us to call RCA she gave us the #, I ended up getting the same story, back order, back order, back order. They are on back order all over the net too. What gives? sounds fishie to me. Finaly a women in the (get this)Phillipines gives me the # for costumer relations. Sounds like they might give us some money back but we have to wait for some rep to phone which could be within the next 2wks. Why couldn't they do it then while we were on the phone. I think I'll just keep calling till they are sick of me. And yes these people are crooks and should be stop. Some one suggested 20/20, good idea, I may look into that myself as we already suggested the media to RCA and the guy got real quiet. I, like the rest us you thought I was buying a good old brand "WRONG"WRONG"WRONG". I have three 20" unheard of brands and they are just fine. I think that maybe the way to go. No brands for me not even GE who are in our city for over 50 yrs and my dad worked there.(they didn't make TV"S though). When big companys buy out good companys thing always change and not for the best. I think I might call our show Fifth Estate, they pretty awesome with stuff like this.

My RCA ProScan 20in TV from Nov 1996 worked fine up until last month when it started experiencing a cable tuner solder joint problem. I guess 9 years isn't too bad for a TV. Switching to the video input jacks from the cable box seems bypass the problem until I get around to repairing the tuner circuit myself.

I bought an RCA Scenium 52 inch HDTV in August of 2002. Within 4 months, the pop and burning smell that so many have mentioned here, occurred. I found out it was a design flaw that RCA made no attempt to change. After 6 months, 2 different "authorized" repair centers and countless hours on the phone with RCA customer service, my TV was returned, repaired. I've had it 2 years now, with no problem. This morning, however, I turned on the TV, and noticed that it turned off by itself. Then I smelled the unmistakeable smell of burning electronics. A while later, I turned on the TV again. No picture, no sound. The smell of burning electronics once again filled my home. I bought this RCA because like so many, I had a good experience with one I bought back in the 80's. That was when it was American owned and built. I know Thompson will not do anything about this. I also know that even 3 years ago, service centers complained to me that RCA was notorious for not responding to service centers, and not having needed parts in stock. If you buy RCA, you might as well pay cash. Otherwise, you'll be paying on a purchase for years, that doesn't work.

A similar thing happened to me with my Sony Vaio laptop. Apparently, there was a design flaw that caused the memory sockets to come loose, and the CPU to over heat. As my luck would have it, one month after the warranty expired, my Sony quit working. I found a place that specialized in that particular fix for $150.00. It was a much better price that the $900.00 Sony said I needed to pay to replace the motherboard. Now, there is a class action lawsuit in the works against Sony because they knew this was a problem. Make no mistake, RCA knows of these problems. That's why there are so many evasive actions, and changed phone numbers. I spent over $2,000.00 on my RCA Scenium. It was top of the line, and even had an ethernet hookup to access the Internet. Bottom line, it doesn't matter who you buy from anymore. Once they get your money, you're on your own. It's no wonder that all of these stores sell extended warranty for a small fortune. They know these electronics will not last.

I spent $1,400.00 last year on a Kenmore HE3 front loading washer. 11 months into the purchase, it died. The computer part that had to be repaired cost $400.00. The service guy convinced me to buy an extended warranty for 2 more years, and $300.00 dollars, because he said the "front" computer panel would be the next to go. My last Kenmore washer lasted me 25 years.

We need a consumer revolt. That's not likely to happen, though. People only look online for these horror stories after they bought the product, and it died on them.

Write all the letters you want. They are thrown away. The consumer has no voice. Robbie

I bought two RCA #32v432t tvs from walmart eight months ago. Three days ago it started auto-programming by itself, and then faded out. It would not come back on. I called the Tech(1-800-447-1700) at Rca. He told me to unplug it for an hour, then plug it back in. I did and it has'nt been on since.I called back the next day and they gave me the name of a local repairman who wanted $85.00 to pick it up, though I live around the corner from them.$55.00 to dianose the problem and could not let me know how much labor would be.Do people realize consumers pay for labor and RCA pay for parts? Ever notice parts for tvs are Three and four dollars? For the people who don't have a phone number for RCA, it's in the white pages of your phone book. That's where I found it. One of the tvs were a late graduating gift for my granddaughter. Her tv is beginning to fade out.I saved to buy those tvs as I'm elderly on a fixed income.I'll try to save again and make sure the next tv won't be RCA.

I purchased a 52inch HDTV in Dec.05 worked fine until May 06 when the picture went red with lines all through it. I called thomson,s and was put on hold foran hour and forty five minutes. Finally got a service center that would come to my house and check out the set. He told me he had to take it to the shop for picture tube replacement. He replaced the tube turned it back on and blew the tube again. He then reorded the tube and a new circuit board and repaire the tv. I had been without the tv for a month when I got it back. It has been 6 weeks and I came home last week and guess what? A red picture with lines through it. It has taken me and my wife a week on the phone with thomson to get them to replace our tv now they say it will take a month to do the exchange if I am willing to believe them.I could not tell you the amount of time we have spent calling them and being on hold it would be hours ,I will never buy RCA again.

I bought a RCA 27V530T chassis ITC00 8FBK in December of 2003. About 4 months out of warranty it starting acting up, going on and off by itself, adjusting its volume to maximum by itself and a slew of other crazy symptoms. I did the hard reset and that seemed to fix it. I never played the tv very much, it was in a guest room and I bet it does not have over 60 hours of usage on it. It is now August of 2006, two years eight months after the initial purchase and the tv is KAPUTZ! The death knoll was preceded by the tv turning itself on and off, coming on with the volume blaring at maximum, and programming the options by itself before it finally gave up the ghost and died. It was a complete waste of my money and I will never again buy anything from Thompson electronics. I live near Bloomington, IN and RCA tv used to manufacture there. I still have an American RCA twenty years old that preforms flawlessly. The FRENCH built version is cheap unprideful crap! ....OF COURSE THE FRENCH NEVER COULD BUILD ANYTHING...JUST LOOK AT THEIR CARS. I threw my RCA into the dumpster this morning. BE WARNED DON'T BUY RCA, GE, PROSCAN, AND ANY OTHER BRAND MADE BY THOMPSON ELECTRONICS.

On July 30, 2006 we purchased (from Walmart) an RCA 52" rear projection tv (model number R52WH74) which has a manufactured date of May 2006. (fresh out of the factory!) Exactly one week to the day of purchase, August 5th, 2006 we were watching our brand new tv and then suddenly our tv turned off all by itself. When we would try to turn the tv back on, the power button (on the front of the tv) would blink green 3 times....but would not turn on, no sound, no picture no power...dead. So I called RCA and they gave me the phone number for Thomson tv repair in a neighboring town, and of course he came out to our house yesterday (a wonderful man, very friendly and to the point) It turns out to be the one of the 3 pictures tubes (the middle one) busted and leaked some type of fluid all over the bottom of the tv. I was told by this repairman that once we begin the service to repair this tv...we cannot take this back to walmart (this would void out his service contract and he will lose money) He strongly suggested we take the tv back to walmart and get our money back as RCA is notorious for not having the needed parts and even if they do, it could take months to recieve the part. But he did mention that once the repair has been completed, then if we are not happy (if something else breaks, we can indeed take it back for a full refund) I feel fortunate as we still might have that option to take this back (as long as the repair will not exceed our time allowed to return this tv) and perhaps if something else goes wrong, we can then take it back. I would like to say that from reading the previous grievances and from their dreadful experiences, I am extrememly disappointed....one would think that this company should be shut down as far as I can see. It's sad because I had always thought (in the back of my mind) that RCA was a reputable company...it is apparant that this is not the case at all.

I purchased a 20" RCA TruFlat TV/DVD combo..within a month the dvd player went. Took it to RCA authorized service who fixed it after keeping it for the entire summer-the tv worked, but they were waiting for a mechanism for the dvd player and nobody called to let me know I could at least use the tv until the got the part. Now it is three years later and the screen is almost black and I can't decipher images. After I got the TV back 3 months after buying it, all the images had a slight red blotchiness to them. I am now in the process of looking for another TV. I won't EVER get a combo again and am trying to find an affordable 20-27 inch tv.

I bought a RCA tv about 3 years ago.The TV worked great until yesterday, July 27th 2006.I was watching it and it just quit. The picture just disappeared and the tube had a little green color in the middle, it started making a noise and started to smell like burning plastic. It will not come on now, the little fan starts up in the back and the tv clicks and then shuts off, the fan starts, the clicking starts.....then goes off again. I,m kind of pissed off that an $1800 television only lasted about 3 years, if that. It wasnt moved and nothing was touched on it,it just quit working. If this is indicative of what to expect of RCA then I would advise people to buy another brand, this is crap....I called what I thought was RCA and they gave me the phone number of 3 places in the Denver area that were supposed to be authorised service providers for RCA TV,s.One number was out of service, the other place wanted $90 trip charge plus $299 labor charge and thats before even finding out whats wrong. The third place happened to be a place where a co-worker had taken some electronics to be fixed, and got a bad experience. Customer service sucks anymore, its almost non existant, its like Las Vegas, all these companies care about now is increasing profits while minimising service. They think no one notices but people are getting tired of it.Lets charge people a dollar for this and a dollar for that, we can make so much more PROFIT.What happened to honesty and integrity and value and service??? I guess I am a little bitter because of my problems now but places charge so much now for bits of rubbish then do not want to help when their product malfunctions. Sorry to go on so much but I guess what I,m saying, my opinion only,is buy RCA....BEWARE>

Dear Sirs,

I have been so upset about this situation that I hardly even know where to begin. On April 21, 2006, I rec d a telephone call from NTL. The RCA authorized repair center for our rca xbox ready model 32V55OT television that I had brought in for warranty repair service on March 08, 2006. (A Month and one half earlier). I was told by the repair center that they had replaced several parts and they had now determined that it also needed a new CRT. (They said they had contacted Thompson electronics to order the part and had been informed that it was no longer available). They then gave me a telephone number I was to call to request an R,A,? In order to exchange the set for a new one, my impression was that this was just a formality to finalize the warranty info. However the customer relations representative named Debbie that I spoke with said that before they could issue an R,A she was required to conduct a ten day global parts search for a replacement crt and if no part was found they would replace the television with a new one. Fine, I could wait ten more days. I asked for her name because I wanted to make sure I had a reference for this phone call she told me that everything we had discussed would be recorded under my home telephone number and that when I called back whoever I connected with would be able to access her notes with my home telephone number.

Yesterday, 5/1/06 I again called the telephone Number and was redirected to a new 1-800 telephone number and after being on hold for 40 minutes I spoke with Fred Fred asked me for my reference number, I told him I was told the file would be referenced under my home telephone number. Fred tried everything to try to find my file and after 20 minutes decided that the new telephone system had connected me to the wrong department. At this time Fred also initiated a file reference number for me to make sure that there would be a record of this phone call. I then immediately called the new number that Fred gave me and was again on hold for 47 minutes. I finally spoke with William , relayed the whole story again, was put on hold for another 22 minutes while he searched your system for the notes from my call on 4/21/06 he also could not find them told me that since there was no record found of the first phone call I would have to wait another ten days for another global parts search. I told him that this was not acceptable to me as this had already been done twice already once, by the repair shop and supposedly once after my initial telephone call to rca on 4/21/06. He then put me on hold again for 30 minutes and when he finally came back on he told me that the set would be exchanged and put me on hold once more while he finalized the exchanged after being on hold for 48 minutes the on hold music stopped and the line went dead. I called back again, again I was on hold for about 45 minutes, and asked to speak with William again, I was told that he was on another line and could he call me back, I said no I would wait as I had already been on the phone for over four hours and I just wanted to make sure everything was all set so I would have a working television sometime soon this guy, Sean then asked for my reference number so he could check the notes to see if everything was set and put me on hold again for 15 minutes.

When he came back on now he wanted to offer me a buy back on the set and said that they would calculate this from the purchase price minus a prorated amount for the time we had the set until we took it to be repaired. I told him this was unacceptable as the set had really started malfunctioning less than 5 months after we purchased it, but since it would work fine for several hours each day and was the only working set we had we put up with it. He said that the buy back was the only option has there were no sets available to replace this one.

He asked me if I had a copy of the receipt I said yes but how was I saw supposed to get it to him to mail it would involve even more delay he said I could fax it, I don t have a fax machine and I told him that the repair place should have a copy of the receipt. He asked me for their phone number which I gave him. He asked me if he could call me back after he had a buyback amount I said I didn t want to end the call without a resolution. He said he promised he would call back I asked when He said within an hour and again said he promised

It is now June 2, 2006, and I still have not gotten that promised telephone call and in six days it will have been 3 months since I took the set in for repair!!!!!!

Now I know that there are many people out there who would just write this off and go buy another set. However, I am disabled with three school age children and even though my wife has a decent income we still cannot afford to keep buying televisions.

Also, this is our second RCA set that has died, the first one an RCA 32 entertainment series model #f32450 died about 2 months after we purchased the above set but that one we had for a little over a year and a half and was no longer under warranty we were planning to take it for repair after we got the above set back, but now I m not sure it is worth trying!

It s pretty sad that I own what should be two nice 32 rca TV sets that are less than two years old that are apparently good for nothing except maybe to be used for boat anchors. And we are reduced to using a borrowed 10 year old blurry 25 proscan set, and a lawn sale reject 15 yr old Magnavox that gets dimmer and dimmer by the day and has lost the top and bottom 1-2 of the picture area.

Listed below is the pertinent info: Repair ctr. NTL Watertown, NY tel.# 315-788-8752 TV model # 32v550t ser #D474C20Q9E purchased 3/31/2005 Problems started 8/2005 set died completely 12/05 Taken for repair 3/8/06

PS it is 7/14/06 still have not recieved that return telephone call from rca customer relations and have not heard a word about the set, i am getting ready to contact nys ag's office for help

No lamp. Thompson says the part is out of stock & not sure if they will make it anymore, but if they do it is 400.00. In short RCA does not care.

we purchased a 27 inch RCA ten years ago. To this day, it still works perfectly. We decided to splurge and get the 52 inch HDTV, and since the other tv has been so great, we went with RCA. It has been three weeks. Last night the tv just shut itself off and won't come back on. Sounds like its not the only set that has done that even though the place we bought it from says they have never had any complaints. Thanks for the insight from this site.

I own a 27 inch Colortrak F2752GY chassis number CTC177AF3 and after a thunderstorm it turns off and on. I tried to unplug the cable and electric cord and did not work the problem is still there. I tried to connect it to a wall outlet without a surge protector again didn't work. When the t.v. does turn on it has a great picture and no problem with sound which off course it infuriates me. I prefer if it just didn't work period. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

bought a RCA 52" tv 12/01/05. In may of '06 I came home one day and the tv just would not turn on. Called RCA customer service they gave me a case number and a repair center number. A few days later the repair service came to get the TV. The part they "thought" was wrong was on backorder until June 17th. On June 20th they contacted me said the part was still on backorder. I called customer service to file a complaint. They did a search the part was no longer being made. I was told the exchange the department would call me. They never did. I started calling everyday, 2 or 3 times a day to get the status. I got hung up on several times. Finally I called and got a new model # I agree that that tv would be fine. I was told it would be shipped to the repair center and they would bring it to me in 7 to 10 business days. On day 9 I called to get the status. I was told it had not even been shipped. But the service rep. did not know why and told me that the exchange department would have to call me about it. She said they would call in about 4 days. I asked to hold and wait for them. She put me on hold several times the last time she came on she said that I was tying up her line that she had to get back to work and then just hung up. I hate RCA!!! Read this model # carefully the same one is a few messages down HD52W59. I will never purchase RCA again. In 2 days alone I spent 172 mins. on the phone with them and got nowhere closer to getting my tv. I am and will continue to write letters and emails to BBB, CEO's, managers anyone who will listen. RCA is a RIP OFF!

I wish I would have done my homework before I bought another RCA! My husband and I had purchased an RCA counsel Tv back in the 80's & it had lasted till 2004. Since we had such good luck with that one, I wanted another RCA - BIG MISTAKE!.I purchased a 32" HD TV from Walmart (the only people I could find that were carrying them). After 13 months the Tv just just itself off. I contacted RCA & was told that the TV was no longer covered but they were willing to extend the contract to cover the set. After calls to the repair service, meeting him at my home, faxes going back & forth & a global search, they could not find the part so RCA agreed to replace the set. Yippee - wrong. All this took 2 months to finally get. Now 8 months later set-2 goes the same way set 1 did & RCA is telling me they will not pay for repairs because they go by the purchase date of the original set. I am a small person, the set ways a ton and have no one to move it for me. I am stuck with a planter in my living room! I have written to the State Attorney General & the Better Business Bureau of Indiana. I am waiting for replys from both.My suggestion is to write these people, if they get enough complaints maybe someone will do something for all of us! These people need to be stopped! I also contacted Walmart & found out that their contract with them is not to take the TV'S back. I guess they would owe them big time!

I first posted a comment over two months ago and as of today I am still trying to get some satisfaction. I have been on the phone for over three hours today talking to the RCA authorized service center, Circuit City, Circuit city's corporate office and now waiting for RCA to answer the phone. Please do not do business with Circuit City or RCA. Circuit City told me that I should have bought a more expensive tv and that they have no obligation to do anything for me. The authorized service center told me they were turning it back over to me that they can't get the part and can't get RCA to respond to thier emails. This has been a nightmare and it's not over yet. I finally got through to someone at RCA and told them that I just wanted my money back. He told me he didn't have the authority to do that. When I asked to speak to someone that could he told me he didn't know who to direct the call to. He gave me a P.O. box to write to. This is a joke. Save yourself alot of grief and don't purchase RCA products. They don't care about the consumer because they own RCA, GE and NBC. I have been told that they have so much money they don't care if they lose a consumer. Wish someone had warned me to stay away from these companies.

On November 9, 2002, I bought a RCA television Model D52120, Serial Number 130630023. Almost six months to the day, May 8, 2003, that television was replaced with Model HD52W140, Serial Number D032C801G, because the specific part needed to repair the original could not be found. Below you will find a detailed list of all incidents occurring after the original television was replaced. On August 4, 2003, three months after the television was replaced, it began arcing and smelling of smoke. I brought television into repair shop and supposedly they fixed the problem. On April 23, 2004, eight months later, once again the television was in the shop for the same reason. Seven months later on November 19, 2004 the television was again getting repaired for the exact same problem. Except this time I had to pay $368.05 for labor. On March 16, 2006 the said television started a small fire in my home (TV was off). When my son heard the smoke alarm, he ran to the living room and saw smoke coming from the television he also heard sparking coming from inside of the television. My son immediately unplugged the TV from the electrical outlet. This happened around 3:00 p.m. and thanks to "Spring Break" my son was in the house. If it had been a regular day, I probably wouldn't have had a place to come home to. I contacted RCA the same day, to inform them of what happened. A costumer service lady, Tina took all the information about the incident and told me that the legal department will contact me. On Monday March 20, 2006, Misty from the legal department contacted me and asked me the same questions as the costumer service department. She offered for me to send my television to them so they could run a diagnostic test to find out what really happened. She also gave me her direct phone number (580.634.0001) Pro-Cam Electronics (817.295.5471) picked up my television on March 23, 2006. The evaluation was ready on March 28, 2006. For several days after the evaluation, I tried to contact Misty, but the phone number that she gave me is a voicemail phone only. She never answers that phone and finally after several voicemails she contacted me on Friday April 7, 2006. Their solution is to replace the television with one of lesser value and less television functions/features or to refund me with a prorated price from the price I paid originally. She then asked me to fax her (317.587.9017) a copy of the receipt that I paid for the television. I faxed on Monday April 10, 2006. I have left several voicemails since April 10, 2006, expecting to an answer, but she has not called me back. The TV is still in the shop (Pro-Cam Electronics). Thomson change all the phone line numbers. On May 4, 2006 I contact BBB and place a complaint (Case # 16003993); after more than a month, RCA did not answer, the conatc person in RCA was: Ms. Tami Robinson, Consumer Relations - (800) 688-0468. It's any possibility to do somthing against this company? I have the address, phone, fax and name of the Thomson Multimedia CEO, I am going to send it a fax with my complaint, if anybody want the CEO info, please contatc me

This an update to a post I made here three years ago: My RCA 26 inch TV (FKC2601T monitor/receiver, CT131 chassis, DVM2601T model number on the label) is still working in my living room. It's about 21 years old. It's the woodgrain one in this picture: http://www.cedmagic.com/museum/dimensia/fkc2600-1.html. I will probably purchase an HDTV widescreen this year and move the RCA to our guest bedroom. Larry Larry Byard Sanford, ME USA - Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 11:06:51 (EDT)

I bought a RCA 52 inch tv model number HD52W59.It lasted less than four months. I bought the tv at Circuit City and I called them to let them know that this tv had completely stopped working. All I can get is a black screen with no sound.Circuit City could have cared less. Their attitude was you bought it now you worry about it. I called the RCA service center and the man that works there has been nothing but rude to me. They did pick it up and they have had it for a week now and they informed me today that they haven't so much as looked at it yet and don't know when they will. Now keep in mind that this set is less than four months old. I have tried to find a number to contact RCA to let them know how disgusted I am and apparently there is no way to reach anyone. I just want to post this to let everyone out there know DO NOT BUY RCA AND NEVER BUY FROM CIRCUIT CITY. tHESE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THAT IF YOU SELL INFERIOR PRODUCTS AND YOU DON'T GIVE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION THAT IT WILL COME BACK TO BITE YOU.

I bought a RCA television model number HD52W59. It went out after three months. Circuit City refused to take the piece of crap back. Who wants a big screen tv that has to be repaired after three months. Is this what I have to look forward to for the life of this tv? It is definately a lemon and I am wondering if others have had problems with this model number tv. I am not ever going to buy another RCA product. I've bought $99.00 cheap no brand televisions that have worked better than this tv that I shelled out over a thousand dollars for.

My parents have a 1991 rca color trak, they can watch DVD's perfectly fine on it, but when you hook up the antenna, the picture comes in for a second then fades out , does anyone know what this is? I do not have an owners manual, or a remote for this thing, it looks like rca has made some crappy products, it is probably not worth fixing.

RCA (Thomson) PRODUCTS SUCK! Years ago RCA was the only brand I ever purchased, and I was always very happy. Now I wouldn t waste a nickel on that crap! A couple of years ago I purchased an RCA stereo; seven months later it quit detecting CDs. I purchased an RCA VCR about the same time; within a year it quit working; after a few minutes of viewing the picture became covered with snow and the sound full of static (both the tuner picture and the taped picture). I ve switched over to SONY and Samsung, and will never go back to RCA!

My experience sounds very much like the previous persons. Here's the details. This is the letter I sent to the same mystery review board...March 14, 2006 To Whom It May Concern: My name is Jesse Hartle and I live in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I am writing to you in the hope of resolving an issue that the normal chain-of-command at RCA and Thomson will not. I purchased a RCA HDTV D52W20 May of 2005. At the end of the year, I started having problems with the picture. There were red, green and blue lines at the top of the screen, the picture was no longer sharp and the automatic convergence would not work. I called RCA to verify the warranty, and they gave me the name and number of Gwinnett TV to have the unit repaired. A repairman came to my house and stated that the tv would have to go into the shop for repairs. They took the tv on December 28 and returned it on January 11, 2006. They replaced a part (258738), and my wife was home to receive the tv. When I came home that evening, I noticed that the tv was still displaying the same issues as before. I called Gwinnett TV back to complain and they stated they would send someone back out to pick the tv up again. I scheduled time off to meet them and they picked the unit up on January 18. They stated that the tv was repaired and returned the tv again on January 26. My wife received the tv, and after she tested it out while the drivers were there, determined that the same issue had not been resolved. They took the tv back again and this time I called RCA to complain about the service. They told me I would have to give Gwinnett TV the chance to correct the issue since it had been less than 30 days since they took the unit in the first place. I called Gwinnett TV back, and they stated that this was an issue that had to be adjusted at the house, and they were training their delivery man to do this. They delivered the unit on February 4, the driver was unable to correct the situation, and left, stating that was all they could do. When I contacted RCA again, they informed me that the service center stated the unit was repaired and they had to take the service center's word over mine and that there wasn't anything that they would do. I suggested getting a second opinion, and RCA stated that this was a viable option, and to not inform the second shop about the first. I contacted North Georgia Electronics. I took time off from work to meet them, they came out and informed me of what was already very apparent to me, that the tv needed repairs. He switched out a convergence board (?) that he had with him, but it did not correct the problem and he informed me it would have to go into the shop. They took the tv in on February 8. North Georgia Electronics claimed that the unit was repaired after replacing a signal board and I took time off from work to meet them on February 27. They delivered the tv, but, unfortunately, I did not have the time to fully check the unit out. That evening, I realized it was still unable to do an autoconvergence, the picture was still out of focus, and a new issue had developed, a 4 inch gray area when watching the tv at the top and bottom with visible lines that distorted the picture. I called them back, and the repairman was very confrontational and stated that the unit was repaired and if I disagreed I'd have to take it up with RCA. I called RCA, and they managed to get the repairman to come back out. I took time off from work yet again to meet them, and he acknowledged the issue with the convergence and gray area. They took the tv again on March 6. March 9, he called to inform me that the unit had been repaired, and could he schedule delivery for the 13th. I informed him that to save us both the time, I would come by the shop to verify the repairs. He then became very defensive and told me he had only performed a perfunctory alignment repair, and was not going to do anything about what he called "scan lines" that "all tv's have". When I told him that I had not paid for a tv to have a distorted picture, he said that was all he was going to do and he was tired of "going round and round" and to take it up with RCA. That same day, I contacted RCA yet again, and spoke to John in consumer relations. He stated to me that due to the tv still being in repair, to refuse delivery since the problems had not been corrected and that my tv met the criteria of "time in service" and "cost effectiveness of repairs" and that I qualified for a replacement. He said to fax him the invoices that I had (I told him that North Georgia Electronics refused to give me an invoice until I took delivery of the unit), and that Randy, my case worker, would be contacting me late Friday the 10th, but if I didn't hear anything, to call back on Monday the 13th after 1pm for an update. I faxed the invoices Friday morning at 8:30am. I did not receive a call Friday and called RCA at 2pm on Monday the 13th. I spoke to Mary who was very rude and condescending (I had spoken to her before) and informed me to not call back until Wednesday since Randy had 72 hours to respond. I thought better of it and decided to call back, hoping to get another agent. Angela (L61382) answered and said she was also working my case and she would review it while I held on. She came back and stated that I did indeed qualify for an exchange for "time in service" but that she needed the final invoice from North Georgia Electronics. When I explained that they would not give it to me without delivery, she called the shop. She then returned to inform me that the shop stated that the tv was repaired, so I would have to take the old unit back, and RCA was not going to give me an exchange. I then told her that the repairman had told me he had not repaired the unit, and she said again, they have to take the word of the tech. When I said that was the whole reason for the second opinion, to prove that the first shop was unable to repair the unit, and was telling a falsehood to RCA, which was supported by the second shop, she told me to "deal with it", "RCA is not going to do a thing". When I explained that the repair shop obviously has a vested interest in getting paid, and that the second shop had told me flat out that "that's all I'm going to do with it. Deal with it", that I have no recourse other than to take it to a third shop, or pursue other avenues, she said that was all RCA was going to do. I asked to speak to her superior and spoke to Ashley (L61274) who informed me of the same thing. They stated the only thing I could do was write a letter to the "review board" and she hung up. Now, I'm not an unreasonable man, I never wanted a replacement for a 6 month old tv to begin with, just to have the warranty honored and to have the unit back in working condition, but, after 3 months of this, I am being given no alternative but to pursue other avenues to resolve this. It's not about trying to get a new tv, it's simply a matter of a company backing up their promise to a paying consumer. As I've stated, I'm not an unreasonable man, not looking for a new tv, just satisfaction and the use of the unit that I paid for, and if that's not possible, then a comparable replacement. If you need copies of the invoices or any other documentation, please let me know. My case number is 0511110204 and they should have all of the documentation you need. I look forward to hearing from you and honestly hope to resolve this in as quickly a fashion as possible without outside intervention. Thank you for your time and consideration. If there is someone else that you feel is better suited to assist me, please let me know

I bought an RCA F-19261 19" TV (chassis CTC185A7) in November 1999. Set worked about three months, then the RF port snapped off the tuner PC board. The warranty did not cover this repair. The local TV repair shop charged me $60+ to fix this problem. The TV then worked for another six months or so, then the same thing happened. Again, the repair was not covered by the warranty--$60+ for this one also. My set works very well now (I think the tech who worked on it the second time must have resoldered the ground points around the on-board tuner which were a major trouble spot in the CTC185 and other chassis of its vintage or slightly older). Good picture on the cable here in the small town where I live (I'm 35 miles from Cleveland, further yet from the stations' transmitters, so I need cable to get decent reception), good sound, everything seems to be working as it should now. However, when this set finally dies, I will put it out for the trash and bring in a Zenith Sentry 2 I've had since 1995. Unlike the RCA, the Zenith has worked flawlessly all that time (almost 11 years), has had no repairs whatsoever, and has, IMO, a better picture than the RCA. Another thing that has soured me on today's RCA is an experience my friend's parents had with an RCA 25-inch Guide Plus+ TV. They bought the set as a replacement for a 15-year-old Zenith System III console. The RCA set worked well for two years, then the CRT blew. They bought a new one, which still works to this day. I'm happy to know that, but, given RCA's poor track record as far as reliability goes, I would never again purchase another RCA/Thomson TV. I'll just put my 11-year-old Zenith Sentry 2 in the living room when the RCA dies. When the Zenith finally gasps its last breath I will get a new TV, but believe me, I will think long and hard before buying another RCA. After reading the horror stories posted here about troubles folks have experienced with RCA/Thomson products (not just televisions), I have come to the conclusion that today's RCA is not what it used to be--not by a long shot! I am amazed Thomson is still in business, with all the complaints being lodged against them about the quality of their products. As the expression goes, "this ain't your grandfather's RCA!"

My God, what a horrible mess. Purchased a new 50" RCA HDTV in September 2005. It died December 7, 2005. It was sent to RCA authorized represententive who stated they had never worked on one of these TV's. It came back three weeks later still broken, but working somtime. After two more months of trying to replace or repair the TV, it was sent to yet another RCA authorized service repair shop. The TV was plugged in for less than 24 hours and two of the three problems continued to exist. I have logged over 25 long distance calls at least 20 minute wait time and was told by the head of the US service manager the TV was working according to factory specifications. It is still at the repair shop and I was told the case was closed and there was nothing more that can be done. The ironic part is the TV is still not fixed and I do not know what to do. I was told to send a letter to a mysterious review board that has no number and no names. I am still making monthly payments for a broken TV that RCA says is working properly even after the service repair man said it is not fixed. Not really sure what to do. I am a nice person and try to get angry or upset, but this has been a really bad experience and I hope that others will read my story and stay away from RCA products.

My mom and I bought two 32 in 32V432T at Wal-Mart six months ago for $250.00 each. Hers went first, turning on and off, and autoprogramming on its own. Her set is on it's second trip to a repair center. Mine started the same thing today. Power on and off by itself and starts to autoprogram by itself. What gives? These are only months old! Any suggestions on repair? What crap!

I used to come to these sights and fume at you guys... I work at the customer service call center in Oklahoma. I too have been screwed... Not so much with faulty products (even though a coat hanger gets better reception than my RCA HDTV antennas)! We have recently learned that as of May 1st, all 125 of us are being layed off. The reason? We were told Thomson is going over-seas with their customer service, as the cost of labor is cheaper. Yes, we may not please everyone at the care center, but there are still a few of us who try to do all we can, but are bound to rediculous policies. I take escalations calls, Or I am known as a "supervisor". I feel so bad for many RCA consumers now. They are sending it all overseas now. All the cases that will be screwed up... If any of you read this, please be sure you get everything you need done before May 1st. It will be months after the transition before those foreigners will understand what is going on. I love foreigners, don't get me wrong, but it is very frustrating to call somewhere and not be able to adequately communicate! I learned that from Sprint's Protection Plan who is in Brazil. After 15 minutes of trying to give the woman my address, and 15 minutes of her not even knowing what i was saying, or how our addresses are formatted, I hung up and cancelled my protection. Anyway, I will try to help whoever I can until the end of our time at Durant. Also, the SAP issue- clue you in. The problem began Jan 1st. It affects Thomson tv's made in 1999 and 2000. Also, we are only aware it happens to consumer's who have satellite or cable service. The guide plus feature is not causing the issue, infact, at customer service, we DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT. We don't even know when it will be fixed. We have not been given any updates since it first happened in Jan. except for a script to read that we are diligently working to resolve it. I believe it will turn into another class action lawsuit, if enough people get involved. I really doubt they are going to come up with a fix for it. I think it may have something to do with the providers going digital, and the tv was made for analog signals only... Not sure. Maybe that is why they are going for cheaper wages, but hey, you get what you pay for.

RCA sucks. I got a VCR from them (RCA VR546) that won't play any movies (the friggin ERR message) and a home theater system (RCA HTS-1000) that overheats constantly and locks up on movies. A friend of mine worked at Radio Shack and he said that RCA was total crap. I believe him. For as long as I live I will never buy another RCA product. Nothing I got from them actually lasts. I work at a video store and whenever someone asks an electronic related question (and we do get them, trust me) I tell them no matter what, avoid RCA!!!!

RCA Customer service: 580-634-0151 Case # 0601232628 Model # HD61LPW175 (61" HDTV DLP TV) S/N - F395C6014 Purchase Date: 1/10/2006, Fingers Furniture, Houston Delivery date: 1/15/2006 Failure date: 1/19/2006 Lasted four days Failed part # 270450 - DLP light engine - This is a sealed unit that cannot be repaired by The authorized service center. Called - 2/8/2006 - (3:30 pm approx) called RCA Customer service (Thomson) spoke with Larry - he told me he would call Bay Area TV and get the part number so they could do a search for the part and have it shipped to Bay Area so the TV could be fixed. Called 2/9/2006 - (9am approx) - Called Thomson/RCA - spoke with unknown customer service agent - he put me on hold and called Bay Area TV - (while I was on hold Bay Area Called me to Report the Contact they had been waiting on) - got the part number and initiated the "global search" for the part - Larry had told me this was going to be done yesterday but was not done until I called this morning. Customer service agent reports that this will take 3-5 days to complete the "global Search" and that he did not actually do the search - he passed the information to the research dept who actually initiated the search. Called 2/9/2006 - (2pm approx) - Called Thomson/RCA - spoke with unknown customer service agent - agent got very mad because I questioned the time it was taking to do the "global search". When I asked to speak to the people who were doing the search I was denied. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was denied. Called 2/10/06 - (11:15) - called Thomson/RCA - spoke with Crystal - she got very testy when I asked to speak with a supervisor concerning the problem - at first refused to let me talk with a supervisor stating that the supervisor would tell me the same thing, when asked if she was a supervisor she said no, I then asked if she was not a supervisor, how could she know what knowledge the supervisor would impart. She put me on hold and after a few minutes came back on and said the supervisor was not available and would I like to continue to hold. I said yes and was put back on hold - After being on the line for 32 minutes, someone came on the line and said he needed my phone number. I asked if he was a supervisor, he replied he was and asked for my phone number. When I gave it to him, he started saying "hello, Hello, indicating he could not hear me" Since all the conversations at the service center are taped, this appeared to be a CYA since he then gave a caller number and said it was a technical difficulty and hung up. called 2/10/06 - (1:48pm) - called Thomson/RCA - spoke with Wendy - asked to speak with a supervisor - she refused unless I gave her my telephone # or case # - she then said she would transfer me and put me on hold - she came back on and told me it would be a few minutes until a supervisor was available - I was put back on hold - she came back on and told me she was going to transfer me and she was going to hold until she was sure the supervisor was on the line - I was put on hold again. James the Supervisor came on the line. He was not able to adequately explain why it was so hard to find out answers on the "Global Search" - the seeming procedure is as follows: Once the problem is identified by the Authorized Repair Facility (ARF) ( in this case Bay Area TV), they contact their distributor to get the part. If the distributor does not have the part, the ARF contacts Thomson and waits on a response. At some time in the future Thomson contacts the ARF to find out what part is needed. Once the part is determined, a global search (GS) is initiated. From what I have been told, a GS consists of e-mailing all the distribution points to see if they have the part available. Then Thomson sits and waits on a reply via e-mail on from all the distribution points. If the part is found, Thomson contacts the ARF and tells them where to order the part. ARF then contacts the holder of the part and orders same. If the part is not available then the ARF is told and the customer is called to determine an acceptable resolution. Such as replacing the TV with a substitute model or buying back the TV at the original purchase price. James stated the money on a buy back would be exactly what was paid from the store at which it was purchased. He also tol d that Customer service reps cannot pass a customer to a supervisor until the customer has been put on hold at least 3 times. He could not give me a reason for this policy - when I asked if this was to see if the customer would become frustrated and hang up he wouldn't answer. After some discussion, I was given the following address at which to send complaints: Thomson, Inc. Attention: Case # 0601232628 P.O. Box 1490 Durant, OK 74702-1490 2/13/2006 - 10:20am called RCA/Thomson - spoke with John - asked for status of global search - no status of search 2/14/2006 - 2:24pm - called RCA/Thomson - spoke with Michael - asked for status of Global Search - no results at this time - Asked how the search was conducted, Michaels says they call each location to determine if they have the part, he then said they e-mail some locations. 2/16/2006 - 8:06am - Called RCA/Thomson - spoke with Debra - no results on the Global search - this being the 6th business day (results had been promised in 3-5 days, later in 3-5 business days) - I asked why we had no results, she had no answer and said the search agent would contact me. Since they have no way to contact me except at home, I provided my cell phone #. I asked if she could transfer me to the search agent and was told that they had no way to let me speak to that person. 2/17/2006 - 10:05am - Called RCA/Thomson - spoke with Jennifer - part was located at "the plant" and will be shipped next week. No information on which "plant" it is coming from or what the ship date will be- just next week. No reason given for why the shipping would be next week vice today. I will update this posting whenever I have something to post.

My RCA 27V550T 27" color tv has plagued me with problems recently. I've had it a few years now and the issues started a few months back. It will lose the picture quite frequently while switching between video inputs or while watching something on one of them. The set will either cut to the "no signal" screen, or come back in lovely black and white. I dealt with it for a while because my warranty was already up, plus the problem rarely happened at first. Now it's to the point where it won't function normally for more than a half hour. I noticed there was another post on here about this issue, so I know it's not just my set. Please e-mail me if you know anything about this problem. I want my piece of junk RCA to work!! Thanks.

I'm pissed! Bought the HDTV-ready wide screen just three months ago and already the lamp has apparently gone out. Called support...guy on phone was helpful, even though I was on hold a long time. Gave me local service center. Person there says new lamp takes about three weeks to get. I don't even know if it is the lamp for sure. I was looking at JVC and Sony when I bought this. I'm beginning top think I shoulda walked past RCA. Hopefully it's only the lamp!

I have a 52" that was bought about 6 years ago. I don't have the model number at this time. From what I am reading, I am lucky it lasted that long. Last week we were watching and without anyone touching the controls, it switched to SAP mode. It seems to do this when it has been on for a few hours. I can unplug it and it comes back on but only for a little while. I was pretyy much told that the fix may or may not help. Only after being taken for $160 by another repair tech that showed me how to "reset" it by unplugging for a few minutes. No more rca for me.

America is headed down the sewer on it's way to destruction in the very near future. It is and yet it is not the fault of those we have in Public Offices all over this country. It is the American people's fault for setting back doing nothing about anything. Most will go on with their daily lives and let a few tote the load for them and their loved ones. There is more to life than work, play and party. Americans will not understand this and real hard-times until all out War comes to our streets and homes. That reality is not to far off, the National ID Card (now called the REAL ID ACT) which has to be up and running by May 20th 2008, may just be the to late turning point for America and the World as a whole.

RCA and Verizing wireless are jokes and a lot like HP was a few years back until their stock started dropping big time. I had purchased a New 52 inch RCA some years back from Sears. I went to pick it up when it reached the store, only to find out Sear had ordered me 2 of those TV's. I guess it wasn't all bad though. Because that very same evening the one I had picked-up started smoking in my living room and went out. The next day Sear came and picked that one up and left the other one they had ordered by mistake. A couple years later this last one went out, but I had the extented bid, so it was fixed for a while. Mean while the woodgrain started peeling off, so after 3 store managers coming out to my home, they sent a man out to repaint part of the case, lasted about 6 months. All of a sudden, the TV would start clicking off and on. You could smell something burning and see sparks when looking in the back after it was removed. That TV sets now in my son's home and still does not work. Last March (2005) I purchased a new 37 inch RCA and a VCR-DVD recorder from Wal-Mart. Within 60 days I was having some trouble with the TV doing crazy things, then it would fix itself or something. Last July the stupid thing started that clicking off and on just like the 52 incher did. I called RCA to get their computer over and over. I then called Wal-Mart who was going to make it good if RCA would clear the action, because it had been over 90 days. Wal-Mart gave me a number to talk to a live person, but that was like talking to my dog and getting him to read and understand my electric meter readings. 3 times I talked to a live person, 3 times I was left holding the phone forever before getting cut off. The last time was for about 20 minutes. So that 37 inch piece of JUNK is in it's box still setting in my living room. Wal-Mart told me they stopped handling the 37 inch right after I purchased mine because of troubles they were having with them. Yes, we need some more free trade agreements signed. They seem to be making the Bush's and Kerry's rich in the end.

First off, you NEVER want a CLASSACTION SUIT against any Company. This relieves them of your suit if you join the action, and sometimes it will stop any other action against them. Show me just one classaction suit where anyone received a dollar out of the whole matter. The attorneys will make millions and you will receive a certifate for a few dollars off of a new replacement item. Lots of case examples; GM and gas tanks on side of trucks; I believe GM settled for like 300 million on that classaction. I received a $2,000.00 certifcate towards a new $49,000.00 truck. MayTag's classaction which just ended in a settlement. I would have to prove I had purchased another washer, come-up with other proofs besides still having my old (yet new) washer (which I do). Then I "MAY BE" intitled to $100.00 off another new $1,000.00 Maytag washer. A friend of mine is going to end up seeing the same thing with Diamond Dog food which has killed 3 of her 60 some high dollar dogs she breeds and sells. But on a product suit, Lawyers receive 50% plus ecpenses which will run (???) about 7% to 25% it seems. Then, you always have the chance after you agree to the settlement amount with your Lawyer(s), they may go back and ask for more from the company. Today, the Lawyers get the goodies, you get the crumbs. But there is a better way of fighting cases in both criminal and civil courts. It still takes time and money, but your odds are 51 to 49, not 50-50 as with using a layer.

I bought a 61" Scenium in 2003, in 2004 the TV went off and would not come on, you could hear a crackling sound from the back of the TV. I unplugged it and called my local authorized service center. They had to ship it to another site about 3.5 hours away, for warranty repair. The TV was repaired and has worked fine since. The warranty covered all repairs and shipping costs. I didn't like being without my TV for a couple of weeks, but the lack of costs somewhat made up for it. The service people drove here and picked up the set and then drove it back so there was no work for me, also another positive thing.

I bought a RCA 36" pip, gold plus tv from Sam's Club in August/September 2000. Fortunately, we have had no problems with the tv until two months ago. The sound wants to disappear for a while and I have to unplug it and plug back in to get the sound back. Had Sears to come out and repair it, and they tell me that RCA is aware of the problem of the sound going in and out, they suggest unplugging the set for a while and plugging back up, but still no solution. I spent $100 for them to tell me what I have already been doing. RCA is offering no solution, no help and no replacement. Never again will I buy another RCA. After reading the many horror stories, they will never get any of my money again!!!!!! F&*() Them!!!!!

I happened to purchase an RCA 14" TV at a local Walmart although my wife (female instinct) was hesitant. I was looking for a small tv for my kid at that time. My wife and I was eyeing on another brand model which was still on display but it was out of stock. After scrutinizing on other brands, I finally stumbled on this RCA TV. It's because I know the name (but my wife is not quiet familiar about) and, most specifically, i like the technical features. After almost 2 months, unexpectedly, the screen went green............................................... ............I - WILL NEVER BUY - AN RCA PRODUCT - ANYMORE.

He also said it may need a new board, he would not tell me how much a board would cost but he did tell me that if it is the board I should buy a new TV I wish I knew I was buying a disposable TV. I purchased an RCA 52" HDTV ready Model #MM52110 in Dec 02. Paid $1400 I spent approx. 10 hrs researching the product and had great reviews. Even though price is what got me interested in this model picture quality is what sold me, however there was other brands that had the same quality but higher priced. 6 months later it starts turning off by itself and goes back on when I turn it on again. then I go on vacation for 2 weeks and come back and it won't even turn on! Getting the authorized RCA tech. here was a nightmare, so I had to opt for an alternate authorized tech. Conclusion was a surge or possible lightning strike caused extension component damage. The product was still under warranty and RCA would not honor the warranty because they have a clause that they are not responsible for lighting or surge damage. The outlet has been checked and the nearby transformer and no damage has been recorded. It was kinda peculiar when the tech got here and his first question was do you have homeowners insurance. With all the complaints about RCA I believe we have enough for a class action lawsuit. Any lawyers out there? Good day! (I also heard from a service tech. this model is common to have the main TV PC circuit board go ker-plunk!! (p.s. I had to add this new entry since I had an email change)

I have a RCA 52 INCH HDTV modle # D52W20. I bought it in 2002. It went out on me two weeks ago. It shuts off on its own and will not turn back on unless you unplug it and leave it unplugged for a while, then when you turn it back on, it will repeat the cycle all over again. I called RCA and they said to call a repair center. Repair centers are charging $100 bucks just to look at it. So I paid to have one if them come out and guess what, he said RCA is crap and he doubts if he will be able to fix it. So I paid $ 100 bucks to find out RCA is crap...thanks for the late breaking news. I am soo mad at this company. This TV was one of the few things I owned that I was proud of, now it is a huge albatross hangin around my neck. I want to sue RCA's pants off in a class action suit...has anybody pursued this?

I feel for everyone that had bought an RCA tv or Proscan like I did and had to go threw the BS to try and get it fixed. I had bought my 36" Proscan 6 years ago, in July of 2005 the high voltage transformer went the repair shop ordered the part which they said would be 2 weeks according to RCA, well it is now Dec 2nd 2005 and I just got off the phone with RCA's call center and again they say that the part is still not available. I called this call center every month at the beginning of the month to see if I can get any answers to no avail. In my opinion RCA just dosn't give too hoots they just want you to buy another TV. After calling the call center the third time (as the repair shop gave up stating that RCA just dosen't care) they offered me a $300.00 coupon towards my next RCA Product providing I spend over $1600.00 I told the lady there are two things that she needs to understand first is that all I want is the part second is after all the BS that RCA has put me threw (in there don't give a shit a attitude) I would not buy another RCA Product and I would advise against it to anyone that asks, that maybe killed me from ever getting my part but at least I feel good about letting everyone else know what there going to have to put up with once there RCA dies..

Last year I purchased an RCA/Thomson portable DVD player. Major mistake. In less than a year it was skipping over the dvds and was a pos! I contacted RCA and they had me ship it back. It cost me $9.00 to ship it UPS and that was with 400.00 insurance on it. They charged me $57.00 to send back a newer model the same way. What was that all about? They upgraded the dvd player which I thought was real nice of them. So when they sent me the newer model I thought it would be a good idea to buy the extended warranty for it. $128.00 later and less then a year the second dvd player had problems. The battery had a large lump in it to where it wouldn't fit to the bottom of the dvd player, the sound also went out. I called to let them know that I would be sending it back and they told me that they would do a customer buy back on it since they didn't have a comparable model to replace it with. They will not refund even a pro-rated amount of my warranty though. James, the supervisor of the customer service dept. who must also own the company because he claims that he doesn't have a manager or supervisor over him, told me that they can't refund even a pro-rated amount of my warranty because (now get this)I used it!!! No sh_t, Sherlock. It was broke!! I proceeded to tell James that if they wouldn't have sent me a piece of crap, I wouldn't had to have used it. Made sense to me!! Well, to make a long story short, I sent back the dvd player 2 weeks ago and am still waiting for my refund. Does anyone have the email address to the CEO of this company? I have an RCA console tv in my house that is almost 20 yrs. old and still works great, but at this point I'm ashamed to admit that I even own an RCA product. If anyone can help me contact someone higher up then "James", I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks for listening and "BUYER BEWARE" especially of RCA/Thomson products.

On 06/18/04 I bought a RCA 27R410T 27" TV from Wal-Mart. I also bought the NEW 3-YR service policyfrom Wal-Mart. On 09/09/05 the TV went out. After calling the Wal-Mart Warranty people, and getting the data done, they said...Cut the power cord, and send it to us. Then a check will be sent to you for the price paid @ purchase. I called Wal-Mart and was advised that: 1. They don't handle that model anymore; 2. If I found another set of the same, it would cost me $100.00-$200.00 more,(I paid $188.64 for the TV). Wal-Mart must buy all over stock RCA TV's and flood the market w/them @ a cheap price, sell the warranties, and then not have any for the tv as they go out of order? I was also told to throw the TV away, by Wal-Mart! A RCA Tv should not go out on after 15 months? What should I do now? I wrote the CFO of Wal-Mart, but with that letter and $.37 you'll be able to get a morning week-day paper? Your advise please!

RCA P61310, purchase price over $3.500.00. The day after the warranty expired it would not converge it's picture any longer. No major parts available from RCA for this 4 year old product. Can not obtain a schematic. No repair people can fix this. No support from RCA. Offered repair from a local tech for guestimate of $1000.00. July this year (2005) RCA 61" Monitor is on sale for $1.200.00. I hate RCA. Since the French Company bought them, it's nothing like it was. Poor Service. crummy, though expensive products. Look great when they are working. Break for no apparant reason and no one seems able to repair them. Too many problems with this Company and after reading all these other Horror Stories, I have to look seriously at what I thought was crappy beyond crappy, LG. Samsung and AIWA. They actually got good over the years while RCA got crappy beyond crappy. It's been sitting in the Living room with a 24" AIWA flat Screen CRT since February this year. Too expensive to toss. It'll make a good project at some local High School I guess. Why do the French hate us so much? I never did anything to them. I actually like their wine and cheese. I have been buying it for years. Why do they WANT to hate us is the real question. We have always been there for them. We buy their stuff. We learn their dying language in our Schools. They have always gotten themselves in trouble in the past and we Americans have always bailed them out. Look at Viet Nam and then the worthless Franc of the past. No rhyme or reason I guess. They just want something to hate that will unite them. Like school children, our school is better than yours attitude. I seriously wonder what will become of them. Next time Germany takes a shine to em, will we try to stop it? Hmmm, I wonder.

2 1/2 years after buying a 32inch RCA Entertainment Series TV for $400 on sale......heard a buzzing/electrical sound and lost the picture. All we get is white electrical looking streaks and it truly sounds/looks like the darned thing is going to explode! NO more RCA products for us. Glad this is here so others can find out what they are in for with RCA and maybe enough people will go elsewhere for Televisions.

I bought a 32 RCA flatscreen from Circuit City and it's only two years old and dead. I left it on while I ran to the store, and when I got home it was making a popping sound and then went out black. It will come on for a second and then shuts off. It's a $700 TV. I just can't believe nothing has been done about this. Has anyone contacted 20/20?

I purchased numerous RCA products in late '90's/early 2000's...including; a mid/late 90's model 35-inch TV, an early 2000's model 32-inch TV, couple VCRs, a somewhat newer DVD Player w/Home Theater System. I have had nothing but problems with the 35-inch TV (granted, we have used that product the most, gently used, but used, but these products are supposed to be used....aren't they?)the 35-inch has been replaired out-of-our-pocket once already a couple years ago and now the screen has gone to black and won't turn on at all (again), so now we're waiting for our call to be returned from the repair-man to find out how much $$$ to repair it this time. The 32-inch TV has been rarely used and so far no problems with that one (knock on wood), but it is currently being stored and not in use at all...so we'll see if there are any problems when we go to use it again. The DVD player does't play right, "skipping-problems" and goes to black screen during playback.

We've owned several RCA TV's in our household and they have all been impressive. The first was a 25" RCA XL100 from about 1976. Finally, in 2002 we threw it away (still worked fine) because it was no longer compatible with the majority of our video equipment (DVD, Video games, etc) and needed a cable box to function. The second was a 1986 19" RCA ColorTrak--we bought the TV used from a hotel that was getting new TV's. To this day, the picture is absolutely flawless. The only problem is that the buttons have never worked right since the set was abused at the hotel, and it's hard to change the channel/volume. The third tv is a 1995 19" RCA XL100. Once again, this TV is working perfectly, was bought new, and is still used to this day. The most recent TV is a 2003 32" RCA Entertainment Series unit. The remote doesn't work very well anymore (dropped too much), but other than that the TV is like new. All of our RCA VCR's and DVD players (1995, 1996, 2002, 2004) still work like new.

I purchased an RCA personal CD player (model RP 2502) several months ago. In addition to skipping constantly the CD player irreparably scratched the painted surface of my THREE of my CDs rendering several songs on each CD unplayable. First of all I would like to say DO NOT BUY RCA PERSONAL CD PLAYERS. I would also like to ask any of you who have had similar experiences to help me out- Has anyone found a number that will allow you to contact a human being at RCA? I am also considering pursuing legal action in small claims court and would really appreciate it if anyone who has had similar experiences would contact me! Thank you!!!!

I'm glad I found this site. I was trying to find an RCA authorized service dealer. About 2 yrs ago I bought my grandmother a 27" RCA television (I don't have the model number at the moment) and last September all of a sudden, the color has disappeared, it pops back in one day and the next 3 days its gone!! I visited my grandmother last weekend (she lives in Virginia) and she told me the color now takes much longer to return. I told her I would do some research and find a service dealer in her area; well, now I'm glad I found this site because to hell with fixing the piece of shit, I'll just buy her another set -- definitely not RCA!!

I have a 36 inch RCA Color Trak Plus Television. We purchased a DVD Player/Recorder and went to hook it up to the RCA TV. In reading the directions for the DVD Player/Recorder, we realized we needed to hook it up through the video in/out jacks on the TV...well no problem the TV has those...except we cannot figure out how to get the TV to swich to external input and "activate" these...I thought okay, I'll go online and find an answer to my question...wrong!!!! the only RCA page I found is all about selling and little to no customer service. Not good on customer service RCA! My main concern is, what is the cable wire for that goes from the DVD Recorder to the Television for if the television is using the Video cord from the output of the DVD Recorder. I had an electrician say to me, that he had worked for the Cable company and they use to just broadcast or transmit a signal using one wire and then they switched to two wires so one wire transmit and the other receives. Why would the Cable company want a receiving signal and what else but the television or media playing components or units could be transmitting back to the Cable company. It has been said that by a low frequency power exposing the filaments on the screen by the light in a room could transmit an image while you are watching an image that exposed on a screen via a high frequency. My main question is, what is the cable wire for that goes from the DVD player to the television when the television is getting it signal from the video wire off of the DVD player. Could the cable wire be transmitting a signal back to the cable company via the television? alex@infowars.com

My mom bought me a RCA Lyra RD1021 for my birthday. When she bought it for me, I was happy that I got an MP3 Player because all my friends had one. I never used it for like a month so it sat on my dresser for that time. after that time, I started using it but it wouldn't come on properly. I had to push hard and wait a while for my mp3 player to turn on. I got it in June/04 and this is February/05 and it still won't turn on properly. I've brought it back to Zellers to get it excanged but they didn't have any of that model and the manager came down and said I can't bring it back because it is not working right! I today complained to Thompson Consumer Electronics so I am hoping to get something in return!

So I am not alone. I bought a 27" RCA in 2001 mostly because I preferred the Guide plus+ feature. I normally would have chosen either a Sony or Panasonic but I thought the menu feature on this RCA interesting. In late 2003 I began having problems with the screen blacking out and the picture being reduced to one tiny, little horizontal line. I didn't want to throw the thing away because I thought maybe it could be easily fixed. Now I am wondering if that TV is even worth the space I made for it in my storage basement. Good thing I found this site because I may just get rid of the damn thing and vow never to buy RCA again.

In 2001 I bought a RCA P61310. Eight months later it had a catastrophic failure. The repair man said it was common for this model. RCA would not replace it with a better model (even though I sent letter requesting it be replaced), so the repairman fixed it. He said it would fail again. I bought their 1 year warranty for the next 2 years when it was offered. In June of this year they would not renew the extended service contract on the P61310. On November 1, 2004 it had another catastrophic failure. Same problem as before. Why doesn't a lawyer go after this company? There are 100's of stories like this.

Bought a 32V550T 32 inch XBOX Ready TV about two years ago. Two weeks ago I went to turn it on and heard a pop and it wouldn't turn on (green led on top just went on and off continually). Took it to a local repair shop with a great rep and they just got back to me today and was told the Transformer is bad and it will be $230 repair. WTF!!!??? A Transformer? Are they not supposed to at least last 5 years or much longer? Last RCA product I ever purchase.

We bought a 36 inch RCA in sept. of 2002.We justified its expense ( over $800.00 ) by telling each other that we would have this tv for years. Boy we're we wrong ! The picture went out with a high pitched squeal, just before Christmas 2004. We were told by several repair shops that the cost to fix it would be at least $300.00 ! I cannot believe that this tv only lasted 2 years. I will never buy another RCA product ever again. Their products are a massive disappointment.

Own an F31700GG 31" from 1994. Tuner problems galore! Overscan issues. Tuner went for a 2nd time. Ran directly into Video-1 from cable box to bypass tuner....Overscan issues! Also - Owned a 9" Kitchen model (can't recall model #)...after 1 year, slow startup, eventually had to unplug it, wait, re-plug it. Eventually went dead completely. WILL NEVER EVER BUY A THOMPSON (or is it THOMSON?) made product again....NEVER. And I concur with other posters that their support and their RCA advisory board both SUCK. I had sent a letter requesting some compensation on the tuner issues noting that 1994 tuners had problems....nothing! They have permanently lost me as a customer and I will sway any potential electronics buyer away from them. Thanks for the opportunity to vent! SL

I am really glad I searched google and stumbled on this web site. I was about to by a used 2yo RCA HTP Guide Plus 54" rear projection TV. Thanks a bunch. I have two Sony's, one for over ten years and the other nearly four years and neither has ever had an issue. I have the original remotes and both have gone through the wringer with five kids switch'n, slobber'n, slapp'n, drop'n, and throw'n and they still work great. For "video" products, you can't hardly beat a Sony for quality and reliability. Thanks again - 1/5/2005!
